i am piecing together a t3/t4 turbo kit, and i was wondering... would i have to rebuild the internals if i just ran 3-4 lbs of boost? i dont expect tremendous gains i just want the turbo. can the stock hold out on that with good tuning? i was also wondering if there is anyone who has step by step 420a turbo setup w/ pics. Thx guys, sorry if this is the wrong posting spot.

Yes 3-4lbs of boost would be fine on stock internals. 7lbs would be fine as well. Most people running completely stock internals run 7-8lbs of boost depending on their setup. This is a very good article on how to build a custom turbo kit. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...uild-420a-stage-2-turbo-kit-under-1000-a.html This is to do it in under $1000 but shows you how to piece together a turbo kit nonetheless.

Very nice article btw. I was looking into it myself a while ago.. Ahem, tegster needs to hurry up and build his. Haha.

Your fine up to like 10psi (with the right fuel setup) on stock internals, anything over is pushing it. Im currently putting all my parts on for the turbo, so if you got any questions just pm me.

3-4lbs is not a lot but also keep in mind motors that are stock still break down "head gasket, worn out valve guides, every once in a while a timing belt will snap"just saying that the faster your car is the faster your going to wear down the parts.power with reliablity=money. you gotta pay to play:dsm:

haha I will be soon enough. I still have parts coming it at the moment though. It wont be anything too special. I am still learning the whole turbo thing so the plan is to keep it nice and simple for now using mostly the same setup as in the article. I am taking the first week of September off work so August 28th, time to start installing...:thumb:

I recommend replacing headgasket and timing components before turboing. Just gives you piece of mind.

And a "t3/t4" turbo for 3-4 psi??? Why not get a tiny garrett t3 turbo if that's all you want to push?
