Now this is just brainstorming and getting everything together. I probably will not start the build untill a few month maybe after the 1st of the year. Im starting a new job (Emergency Dispatcher for PG County) and have 2 months training coming up and more worried about that first and when im settled in the job ill start worring about this build.

Well complete tear down of block and head are done. Ill get pictures of the bare block and head monday to show what im working with.

I want to send the head, intake manifold, and block in to get cleaned checked decked all that good stuff. Ill be sending my intake gasket in with the head and manifold to get ported to match the gasket. Now my question is i want to bore the head to .040 which weisco piston is 88.50mm. Can i give that to the shop without giving them the pistons? Oh and will the cometic head gasket still work with .040 over?

Also when i install the crank rods and pistons after install is there like some type of balanceing i have to do???

Also on the new lifters and rockers. Im noticing some have gone to PT Cruiser ones. Are they stonger or something or are OE fine to get?

Now im not looking to get 1000hp nor 500. Just looking for a nice build and a street legal most likely DD.

Here is what i have planned so far before i start making final desisions and start buying stuff. Let me know you opinion and if im leaving something out.

Turbo Kit

Not sure yet not going to worry to much until motor is built. Might even brake in motor before turbo charging. But like before not looking to get 1000hp just a mild intercooled turbo kit.

the pt lifters are just all around better lifters easier to bleed, and just better. i would recommend getting a 2.2 stroker kit first. ( new pistons rods and crank shaft) they are about 2k, you will get more power from the bigger displacement and you will have the forged internals you want. Build the entire block and head first before you turbo, over bore, pistons, rods over size valves and cams. if your power goals change you wont have to go back into the motor to re do something you should have done already. Also do your build to a second motor not the one in your car so you can keep driving it and build the motor as the money comes and one week end do the swap once everything is built. Give the machine shop both the block and pistons, this way they can bore to the pistons not what you tell them, they might over bore or under bore.

I dont know much about the 420a but in my opinion id make sure when the crank rods and pistons are in id probably look to be sure it is all balanced properly if you can. Even at NA that shouldnt be to bad on power and fuel Mileage on top of that. When you turbo it you could probably run like a 14b or 16 g honestly if your not looking for alot of power run around 14 to 16 lbs if possible and that should be decent for you. As far as the PT ones that i honestly dont know. If people are doing it they may be stronger. That would be something to do a few searches on the net for.

One thing!? What are you using to tune?
If you can get the pt lifters GET THEM they provide better wear protection because they have an oil squirter on them. And the 2.7L rockers wouldn't hurt either, they also provide better wear protection.

I looked into the 2.2 but im going to stick with stock block, head, intake manifold and tb. Just have the all bord/ported to match the gaskets and parts im using. This is my first build so im not looking to go crazy on in. This is a second motor i have i got block and head plus spare trans for 150bucks. (blown block. snapped a rod) The motor that is coming out of my eclipse when i do the swap is probably going to be another build and possibly a build to sell depending how this build goes.

Yeah ive looked into the 16g alittle but not making final choice till after the motors build thanx man.

Congrats on the job. Im a volunteer firefighter for PG Co.

Thanx man i volunteer at 20 here all weekend dedicated to the brush truck for this damn storm. WOOOOO LOL not

It will be tuned by a shop on the dyno. I havent gotten to that point yet and im not sure if DSM Link will tune the 420A??? Is there any other tune softwear that i can use for my laptop?? PT lifters it is then. and what has the 2.7 in it??

DSMlink is for the 4g63, it will not work with the 420A. You will need to get Megasquirt to tune the 420A.

Well in the market now for pistons so i can get this block out to the shop to get cleaned and all that good ol stuff.

Im deffenitly going turbo way and most likely doing a 20g.

should i stick with my weisco pistons .040 over or any suggestons i should look at doing?
