420a motor cams problem

so i have a 96 talon 420a motor...snapped the timing belt and bent two valves. changed the head and started the car. the idle is bouncing. sounds like i have aftermarket cams but i dont. what could be going wrong????

Your timing on your belts may off. Check your timing marks.

I don't know how indepth your head repairs were but if you took off the cam gears I know they have 2 sets of timing marks, one for the dsms and the other for the dohc neon

well i got a used complete head from a junkyard. had it shaved and put the cams lifters and rockers back on. one of the cam bearing caps the bolt was stripped so i got a different bolt. im pretty sure i timed it as good as a could.

did you use the cam sensor that came with the junkyard head or the one that was originally in your car? the junkyard sensor may be not working correctly and messing up your cam signal
