I've been searching, but haven't found a definitive answer.

Aside from wheel selection, how would 5 lugs help with brake selection over 4 lug on my gvr4 (or other dsms for those searching)?

I had been reading up on possibly doing a 3kgt big brake upgrade and that's when the whole 4 vs 5 lug dilemma came to mind. (On a side note, if anyone knows, would a 3kgt brake upgrade work if I found appropriately sized rotors with the correct bolt pattern?)

I appreciate you help.

5 lug setups definitely have their advantages when it comes to rim and rotor selections. You can re-drill the 5x114.3 rotor to 4x114.3 if you like.

Finding the right parts to make the conversion is quite difficult.

I have done 5-lug on two GVR4s. Did it mainly for wheel selection and availability. It helps with brakes to the extent that any 1g Eclipse stuff works then.

As mentioned above, you could do the 3kgt front conversion and stay 4-lug, but you would need to redrill the rotors (not a big deal).

Finding parts is not that hard, depending on whether you want to keep the ABS (easy on a 92, not so easy on a 91).
