I recently blew the headgasket in my gst and need to replace it soon. My question is which headgasket should I chose for my application. The most I plan to run is a 16g but nothing over 20psi. I also don't want to have to yank the engine to have the block decked. Which of these two gaskets should I get. I will also be getting ARP headstuds too. I know its a newb question but I've been searchin for hours on here and can't get a good answer for my application.

go with a mitsubishi 4 layer full metal headgasket and arp headstuds. you will never have headgasket problems again.

This is what I was thinking but do you think that it will have a problem sealing if I don't deck the block and head?

The Multi-Layered Steel one is definitly a superior gasket, however only when installed on two *flat* & *smooth* surfaces. If you don't want to have the block decked, then the stock gasket is hands down the gasket for you. It'll also easily hold a 16G at 20psi with ARP Head Studs, don't be fooled there is quite a few very fast cars running much more power then a 16G at 20psi ever could with stock gaskets! :thumb:

Hope that helps ya out, good luck! :dsm:

from experience i don't deck the block because it really doesn't need to be done. i ALWAYS get the head decked, tanked, etc.., everytime i take it off so that it is in perfect condition. i have reused the metal headgasket many of times and have had no problems with it at all. The point is, do you really want to trust a stock headgasket at 400whp??? personally, a 4 layer metal head gasket sits a lot better with me than does a stock composite one.

Go with the OEM they will hold up fine with your setup! I had ran 22 lbs on my 20g and never had a problem ;)

I would at least check the block since you have it out or exposed. We didn't use to do this till we had to take the head out of a 2jze like 4 times because it would keep failing.turns out the block was warped.after that we checked every single block we did the head on.LOL

well see in my shoes if i had to get a block redecked i would totally buy a new block, race motor or whatever. but in my situation my talon is my project car so it doesnt have to run.
