3mm lifters

after losing my first head to a bad machine shop i got another head but i left my in the old head so my question is i want to use 3mm 3g lifters but can i use my 1g roller rockers or do i have to change those also, and can i do this without having any further valve work done

thank you i just realized i did not have my old lifters thanks to a machine shop destroying my old head so time for a upgrade i found a set from topline/johnson? ever heard of them?

Yes, its as easy as pulling out the original lifters and inserting the 3g ones. You don't have to change anything else. I have a set in my 4G63T engine which is patiently waiting to make its comeback.

Many guys have used the Topline lifters without any issues.

when i get my new lifters in and soak them in oil to bleed them and put them in do i want to soak them in the oil i usually use or a break in oil like royal purple etc?

The ones that I have seen come already filled with a clear oil. IMO there is no need to soak them in a second type of oil. Just bleed them and install them. That's what I did with mine and they are working just fine.

Obviously, if someone is reusing a set after cleaning them then they should be primed with oil.

If you do want to do that then use whatever motor oil you are currently running.

Go to autozone and buy a tube of assembly lube. Squirt it into the side hole until it comes out the top hole, install lifters. Voila, no draining/compressing/pumping/etc, fill with assembly lube and drop in. Huge time saver.
