sup. i have 3k to spend on a block and a head, and install. anyone have any recomendations on where to go? ide like to rely on nitrous as heavily as possible.thnks

honestly you should get a built bottom end first then worry bout head it will cost you more than 3k you can do the block adequetly for about 1300 or so and the head can be purchased, built for 800-2500 but you have to add the bs such as hg timing belt etc etc etc through install on and your prolly looking at another 750-1500 depending on where you go

Go with a 6-bolt swap for sure. And id probly go with someone other than who was posted if you plan to get a shortblock/head built for 3g's. You need to use the search button and decide for yourself what to use, not have someone tell you what to use.

If your using nitrous then worry less about the nead and more about the bottom end for now based on your budget.

Nitrous will smoke the stock pistons in short order if you run it enough. Wiseco can make pistons specially for use with nitrous that have a thicker crown and skirts as well as the rings moved farther down the piston. It makes the piston heavier but much more durable for nitrous use. Honestly that with some Pauter or Eagle rods will get your bottom end in shape you need for nitrous. Make sure you get the ring gaps from wiseco for that setup because you will use a different gap than a car that's not using nitrous heavily.

Your head just get some cams 272's type of thing for now and run on the stock head and have that installed. IT will likely cost you about 3k just for that without even touching the head. Depending on how much you spray the head will start to limit you down the road but it won't be for a while.

weisco pistons and eagle rods are what i was looking at most likely, but ive heard bad things about theeagle rods but the price difference from other manufacturers is pretty big, so ill probably go with eagle and just cryo everything.

What have you heard bad about eagles? The only thing ive heard before is they tend to need to be checked for spec when getting them, because a few have had them off. But for how many are sold and run, the very very few cases ive heard about, isnt anything. Besides, they should be checked before installing no matter.

I've heard that their quality control system is very poor, compared to others and that the machining process isnt done properly which of course could lead to a poor yeild, but again this is just heresay as i havent seen it for myself, mostly just what I have read on this forum from people with the rods.
