Have a bone stock 91 Tsi AWD Auto, I know one of the old cheap dsm tricks is a 2G MAF and 560 Injectors will work ok with no tune but im not sure if that was on manual ECU cars that originally used 450cc Injectors. The auto cars obviously use smaller injectors thus the stock ECU tuning must be different.

Basically what im asking is has anyone ran a 3G/Montero #482 MAF and the EVO 560cc Injectors on a stock 1G AUTO ECU w/ no tune.

Thanks

Your profile name is perfect for the question you are asking :D

Now to the numbers... So in a perfect world the 3g/evo/montero maf would essentially be like running an safc at a 650cc fuel injector compensation(in a manual). So the 3g maf would basically put you at a 590cc compensation so that would put you a little on the lean factor but with the auto higher fuel pressure it might balance out possibly...

Edit: Reworked the math a bit using maf compensation values vs injectors and it looks like it works out to roughly 563cc so with the added fuel pressure of the auto it might be about right.

To me it doesn't sound like a good idea to risk as this would also put your timing through the roof, so to speak.

it does bump the timing but thats probably a good thing actually.

i run a 482 MAF on a 2g with 560 injectors and no tune. The ECU is quite capable of adjusting out around 10% of variance at the most but you will need to remember that anytime you reset the ecu or make any other changes to the intake or fuel its going to run weird for a while as the base map will be way off and it will only run good after the ecu has a chance to learn the fuel and timing back out.

even things like a freak cold day can send it in to a map that it hasn't adjusted yet, and you will want to verify that all the coolant temp sensors and knock sensor are all working. it makes trouble shooting other problems more difficult and you will want to keep a stock maf and injectors on hand for troubleshooting. but it can work rather well.
