300hp with b16g????

we made 313whp@19psi and ran 13.1@113 in a '90 FWD on 94 octane with the following mods:

big 16g (old skool, not EVO3 - $250 used)
264/264s ($400 used)
hacked 1G MAF (free)
AFC ($200 used)
Spearco 2-178 FMIC ($500 w/pipes used)
full 3" (homemade - $300)
Evo 02 housing ($100)
Denso 190 pump ($100)
ACT 2600 ($350)
Retreads ($150/4 used)
Phantom Slip ($100 used)
car ($300 - was sitting in a field for 3 years+)

On C16, it hit 350whp and was still climbing when the oil filter backed off (still at 19psi)
 
I made 302awhp and 286tq. I was on 93 octane running 19-20psi. I had a rnr fmic, 3" exhaust, 660cc inj, and tuning via original release of the dsm translator. No control over anything but fuel in 5%increments, and had just sold my logger to order dsmlink. No idea if i wass knocking or not. here is the dyno chart

On a side note i had some bad grounding issues at this time and a 1g unported o2 housing. Im hoping to go back and put down a bit more with the 2.5" tubular o2, alcohol injection, and dsmlink.This was a evo3 16g

fact is its possible, go do it. tune the car if you cant do it. add more stuff to the car.

Ha, no i'm not basing that on what I've done, I don't think that highly of myself. Merely what I've seen posted around here, which is why I said "seems". The above graph, notwhithstanding, that's still pretty close to 300 and a different dyno on a different day could yield different results. Not trying to belittle someone else's accomplishments at all. I still stand by my statement to bust 300 convincingly/repeatedly on a stock engine with a 16g class turbo you probably need one of the aformentioned power adders - unsafe AFRs need not apply. ;)
 
It is very much possible. However you're going to run into a few things that are going to affect it in a negative or positive way.
1. Supporting mods
2. Good tuner
3. Everything that has to do with weather. i.e. hot/cold, elevation.
4. Excellent working dyno

So as you can see, something is going to effect your numbers for a pos. gain or neg. gain.
 
yea... i might dyno in april with sacramento dsm crew. which is probably still a good and cool month before it hits the heat soaking summer time.
 
props to all you guys that have hit the 280hp+ with the 16gs. and zero props to the the ones who doubted the almighty 16gs.

not 300, Ive seen a 273awhp on a 1g smic and race gas and like 24psi, as far as the wimpy 2g smic I wouldnt recomend it...unless your dynoing at the south pole
 
Ok guys... look what the hell we are fighting about... The answer is YES> the big 16g will make it the power with the supporting mods.... listed in the previous posts...
this is not who has done it with what... just that it will if you don't believe me. call AMS at 847 790 0530. And as far as who commented me... I put that AMS cam test just to show that it can be done EVEN WITH A SMALL 16G. G

Yep, I've got a black talon...I do remember telling someone that I'm the original owner of my '92. That was me dreaming about buying a talon when i was in college in late 80's - early 90's.

It wasn't at a lower boost...I've been running it at 20psi for a few years now.

yeah I remeber that day.....talking about late 80s early 90s that was the time I fell in love with dsm's and never looked back :thumb:
