3000GT SMIC vs 1G SMIC: Worth it?

A guy in here has a stock 3000GT intercooler that I could get by trading my stock unit, and I was wondering if it was worth it or if the 1G stock intercooler is better.

Does anybody know the dimensions of both of them?

not sure of the dimensions, but i would assume it would be bigger due to the fact that is has to cool down the air from two turbos. Why does he want to trade though? is his in bad shape? The other thing to keep in mind is that if you do trade, im sure your old IC and his IC won't match up, so your going to have to custom route you IC piping, and make up some brackets.

I'm not fully sure, but I thought the 3000GT came with 2 SMIC?

I believe he wants to trade it because he needs something smaller for the F-SAE car of his university, and I wanted to know if the 3000GT SMIC is a improvement over the stock 1G SMIC because I could get if for free (Nothing bad with free parts, eh?).

For the brackets I'm sure there could be some way to do them. Fab shops labor is pretty cheap in here so I could get it done for cheap.

Also, it's just not about physical dimensions, I want to know if the 3KGT SMIC flows better, etc...

I always heard that 3000gt guys buy 1g DSM SMICs as cheap upgrades for their cars. When I sold my 1g SMIC, I sold it to a 3000gt guy. He might just be trying to get a free upgrade.

Yep i sold both my sidemounts to a 3000gt guy too. I would only assume they are an upgrade to the stock 3000gt intercoolers.

Having owned a 92 3kgt vr4 I know that dsm intercoolers are nearly twice as thick as stock 3kgt units. Tell the guy to buzz off

Agreed, 1g DSM SMICs are upgrades for 3/Ss. My SMIC puts my bro's Stealth sidemounts to shame.
