I just bought a 1g tsi awd not to long ago and the water temp gauges pegs out hold after only a few minutes. The fuel gauge is pegged out fuel and the oil pressure gauge dont work at all. I have checked the connections on the temp and pressure gauge and even replaced the oil pressure switch. Nothing has changed. I havent messed with the fuel level sender in the trunk yet but what else can I check?

Are all of these gauges aftermarket?

May want to check that all the grounds for the gauges meet at a common point close to the firewall where the battery's (-) terminates.

Do they have face gauges? I installed face gauges on mine last weekend and now 2 of my gauges (fuel and water) work half way. I'm getting a new cluster and just replacing those.

Did you check that the gauge cluster itself is correctly seated and/or all the individual gauges are secured to their respective traces. I'd also make sure all the grounds are secure as previous owner may have tried vamps or other splice-in connectors that may have compromised the ground line :dsm:

This is the second gauge cluster and it is in there correctly. It might be the grounds but I am not sure where the gauges are grounded.(little help please) When I put the second gauge cluster in the fuel gauge was on E. As soon as I powered it up the gauge pegged out full. It hasent moved yet.(two full tanks run threw it) Th oil pressure gauge just doesent move at all. And the water temp gauge just keeps going until it looks like I am over heating. The car runs fine and the fan still works off the other temp sender. No boiling coolant or anything. I am stumped.

I'm having a similar problem but it is only my stock temp. gauge. When I start my car,my temp gauge will redline after 20 seconds. It started after I installed my aftermarket boost gauge.I know the car isnt overheating, but I still wont drive it untill I get this fixed.(just in case my car does start to overheat)

I just found out today that my fuel gauge doesnt work either.Im just going to replace all my stock gauges with aftermarket gauges.

I got it figured out. This is funny stuff. I just got my logger setup, up and ready to go and when I went to plug it in the obd harness had something plugged in to it. The person before me had messed up and plugged the gauge connector into the obd connector. Ha Ha. So I plugged it into the right connector and it worked great.

I know this is an old thread, but I am also having this same problem... happen to have a picture of what the obd harness looks like and where the plugs should go in "correctly". Thanks, Brennan.
