My 6bolt swap starts up, holds idle, and runs however sometimes it seems like its fighting itself. I threw on some new NGK plug wires and greased up the connections with some dielectric grease. Seemed to run better for about 2 or 3 minutes, then back to a slightly rough idle. I shut the car off, pulled the plugs, and the #3 looks almost brand new except for the tip. The rim is was still shiny metal and wet from fuel. The other 3 plugs were dry and black on the rim and dry and whitish grey on the tips. My coilpacks connections look a little rough too. Should I just go buy a new coil pack? Should this fix my problem?

Thanks.

My car also has some kind of electrical drain somewhere. I wonder if this could be the root of that evil as well..

you can pull your plug out and start the car w/ the plug out of the hole but still connected to the wire and then ground the plug to the block and see if your getting spark or not. or get an inline spark tester for like 10 bucks at an auto parts store.

Cool thx guys. I'll try all of that. If I still get no spark at the plug, I'll invest in a new coil pack. I was kind of suspecting my coil pack was bad before the swap anyways, so it wouldn't surprise me.

I'm running a 1g cas. It's from SBR. Not sure which one it would be, but I know it's not a blacktop.

Thanks again.

I cleaned the coilpack thoroughly. It looked pretty rough. Some of the sleeves around the connections seemed to be melted away a little bit. So I'll be getting a new one next week. Anyways, I plugged the coil back up. #3 seemed to be firing. But I have some a/f problems. Please keep in mind this is a new 6bolt swap and has less the 20miles on it. Here's the link to my other post about my a/f ratio problem if you care to take a look. Thanks.

there is some stuff at the auto parts store called: Dielectric Grease, or Bulb Grease (same thing basically) you can try to put some of that in both ends of the #3 wire and it will help the spark go through the wire if there is a connection issue. It is cheap for a small pack, and thats all that u need... like $1 or 2 max for the really small packs by the checkout.

ok, so i'm still running on 3 cylinders... I checked the number 3 spark plug. It's getting spark. Now, I also took off my plug wires at the coilpack one at a time while the car was running. It looked like a lightning show for each one. I'm assuming this is normal? So it's obvious #3 is getting spark, but maybe the spark is too weak? I don't know, I'm stumped. Also, when I pulled the plug, it was wet, so I know it's getting fuel. I swapped the #3 and #4 plug as well and took it for a spin.. The original #3 plug fired fine in the #4 cylinder...

Does the firing order need to be changed on a 98 with a 6bolt swap? I was under the impression that only needed to be done with the older 2nd gens.. Thanks again.
