Ok I just got offered a deal for a new motor. One little thing though it's a Honda 3.5 liter v-6 out of a 2010 Honda pilot. All I got was the block and heads. Anyways long story short motor is in good shape and it's producing 250 HP and 253 Torque stock. I want some input of what y'all think. I have contacted my local shop that I trust my work with. They are preparing for the build if I decide to go through with it. The plan is to build it up from the floor up. The dream is to build up a 700hp DSM but am I fully nuts for this thinking???

..just too bad that DSM's are all unibody type instead of body-on-frame where this sort of project would really benefit from.

That unibody is gonna do some serious flexing with that extra weight up in the front end-gonna have to figure out a way to keep it from flexing...and I can easily recommend RWD with this, so the motor can sit behind the front axles so your center of balance isn't so wigged out lopsided crazy.

I believe a cage would help quite a bit, and would also be a good idea for something putting out that much power. Two'fer. LOL

I wouldn't go with the honda. A good idea would probably at least stay in the same manufacturer family just to make things simpler. That way alot of parts, sensors, bolt patterns, and configurations be similar enough to be modified and be used. I guess it all depends on what your doing with the car. If its a full on gutted race car with hardly anything still a car other than the body then it wouldn't matter what power plant you use.

A 6g75 3.8L from the new galant will drop into a 420a equipped car with no modifications to the mounts....

As long as you use the a604 transmission from a V6 avenger.

You can use an a543 5 speed transmission, but all 3 transmission mounts will have to be fabbed.

In short, it'll be easier to use a 6gXX motor.

I wanted to put the 3.8L into a good N/T shell. A 250whp N/A eclipse would be a surprise to some. But I like the avenger more, and that would be a surprise to most.

Does this work with the Eclipse 2g RS/GS?

Don't all the 1g and 2g DSMers have the mounts on the same location?

It will not work in a 1G since the N/T of 90-94 was wither 1.8L 4G37 or 2.0L 4g63

If its a 95-99 RS/GS with 420A then yes it will fit but you will need the computer and probably wiring to get it to run. Only fabbing as mentioned above is the three trans mounts.

This would be about 3/4 of the work as a 4g63T swap since you need relatively the same amount of parts just without the more difficult fabrications

Thanks, just wanted to make sure.

The harness got taken off the market due to the tach sensors not working correctly. But once its fixed it will go back up. Id have to ask my friend for his list of sites, im stictly dsm LOL. Good luck on the build and keep us informed. Ill post up some picks of our swap when we get to it.

Hello all , I'm new to dsmtuners but not to mitsubishi I own a 97 gs and a 99 gs spyder and have big plans for both . The 99 spyder I would like to do the 4g63 head swap and awd swap . The 97 gs is more of a dream build I Would love to hear more on this subject , not sure if this is the end of the thread or that I am on probation . I have a 6g75m just for this specific swap . Need more info please . I have been googling for like a year now LOL . Also the a604 was the stock avenger transmission correct ? And the a543 from a shadow .Anyone try a 3g gt or gts 5 speed . Maybe the 4g 6 speed .

Rule of thumb. If you're asking how to do a swap like that, you're not ready for a swap like that. Hence the reason you don't find anything on google. The 4G 6 speed is the wrong way around from DSM motors

Well I have been doing research and will be doing the swap . Complete 3g 6g72 wiring harness ecu distributor and crankshaft timing wheel black heart motors adapter plate 6g74 coolant pipe. I'm sure I'm missing some parts that I need for the swap but trust me I'm more than ready for a swap like this . Is the spyder I have not a dsm ?

thought you meant 4g63 eclipse. Nvm then and I was thinking Evo trans. Anyways a couple guys on here put the 6g73 in their nt. Try PMing them.
Will do . Just looking for a better manual transmission candidate preferably one with no mount modifications . And there's an issue with the 5 speed swap with the harness for the 6g73 avenger swap , something about the automatic transmission has a sensor or something . I remember reading something about it . Anyway I think for the most part I'm pioneering the wiring but the rest I can borrow from other forums . Do you know of any 6g75 mivec swaps in a 2g ? I know this is primarily 4g63 territory but for the 420a based eclipse it's a better solution than a wasted evo 8 swap . No offense to anyone that has Done it but I believe I can achieve this for at least half the cost if not less .
