3.5" Maf install questions

is it worth it to install one on a 95 GSX i just have bolt ons and stock turbo. i have a extra one lying around from my LS1 camaro. and i want to put it on here so i can go VTA what do i need to install it?? is there any tuning needed? or will it just plug and play?

You can search this and find a lot of information on it but I'll tell you anyways. To put that MAF on your car is gonna cost some money, probably around 300 dollars. The first thing you need is a MAF Translator. This allows you to tune all the settings to be able to run on your car. Then you need to buy an upper intercooler pipe that is made to hold a GM MAF.
There are a lot of good things that can come from running that MAF however. First is you can install bigger injectors and use the translator to tune it as long as you have stuff to monitor with like a datalogger and/or wideband O2. It also frees up your intake of that big fat stock airflow sensor and allows you to run a universal filter. The last thing (and most ricerish haha) is that you can vent your blow off valve to the atmosphere which gives it the really loud whoosh between shifts.

You can put it on if you want but performance wise its not going to do anything for you now, unless you just have to vent. And you have to have a translator, which wherever you look ebay, vendors, or classifieds is going to cost ~200. Then you either need to buy an upper intercooler pipe with a cutout for the gm maf or cut yours and have some couplings to put it on with. The only benefit your going to get from it now is being able to vent. Personally I think 200 is a lot just to be able to vent.

At this stage in the game, why would you want to?

The GM mass airflow sensors are the cheap part of the equation....I've bought them for under $20 on eBay before in fine working condition. You're faced with buying a $200+ translator, and a bunch of 2.5" to 3.5" silicone couplers just to plumb in a MAS that will show you very little power gain. Your stock 2G MAS meters just fine and flows tons of air....enough to get you into the 11's.

Save your money and invest it in a turbo and fuel system upgrades.

The simple answer is no. Especially if you only want to install it so you can vent your bov.
