Resolved 2G What is this part?

Ok, been wondering this for a few weeks now. I pulled my front bumper and removed the driver side air dam cover, behind it was this box looking thing. What is it? Do I need it? Can I remove it? Can't see it from the top just a few lines going down to it from what I can tell

Thank you, looks like I gotta get DSMlink and get the Evap system removed. Gotta wait til I get my Maryland inspection, and then it's on like donkey kong.
