I'm looking at buying a 95 awd auto that is in pretty decent shape, but the transmission seems to be giving trouble. It does not move in any gear, it feels like it's in neutral all the time.

The owner says the transmission was just rebuilt, he didn't say whether or not it moved at all since it was rebuilt. He says it has line pressure when he pulled off the cooler lines and he looped them to make sure the cooler isn't plugged.

He thinks it's a solenoid or the tcu, could it be a line pressure solenoid causing it not to move at all? Or could it be a busted manual valve? Any ideas? Thanks!

Any proof of the rebuild? If not i would be walking away just issues in the past with rebuild, and other saying oh it was done, when it wasnt.

No papers on it but he is the former owner of the 95 awd manual im driving right now and that one is pretty solid. The body on the car is really clean, it has a rebuilt title but I can't find anywhere on the car that has been bent including the underbody it all looks really straight, another friend of mine says he had driven it before and it drives straight...part of the deal was he would get my 95 fwd that just needs the motor and 5spd put back in it, just a straight up trade...

Any thoughts on the deal or the trans issues?

Fluid was full, that's the real stumper. Turns out I'm not getting the car I'm just gonna help him put a different trans in it.

Leave the rubber O ring off the valve body & you have no reverse.
But to have no gears, not ever 3rd in limp mode, I'd say the convertor
is not hooking up or the pump died & it has no line presure.
Cheers !

Found the problem...the shift cable wasn't connected to the manual valve and the trans was stuck in neutral the entire time...doh!ROFL
