2g tb elbow on 1g tb question. I need HELP quickly!!!!

The guy that owned the car before me put a 1g 60mm throttle body on the car. But instead of putting back the 2g tb elbow he put some kind of custom made pipe that keeps blowing off under boost.

I just purchased a 2g elbow to put back on the car but how can I make it fit since the 1g tb is bigger? Do I need to port the 2g elbow or something like that? And which gasket should I get since I currently don't have one. Should I get the 1g tb elbow gasket or the 2g tb elbow gasket and how much do those approximatly cost?

No sir -

If you just hold it up to the t/b you should be able to see that you dont.
The only porting anyone does on the elbow is smoothing the knife egde were the bend is some.
(but not too much - the walls are thin)

ok................the tb elbow inlet is 52mm and the tb inlet is 60mm and I have to slide the tb inlet into the elbow. How can I do this if the elbow hole is smaller?

the tb just bolts to the elbow. you shouldn't have to slide anything together to make it fit.

oh wow. Now I know what you're talking about and it makes sence now. But for some reason my tb has some sort of short metal pipe connected to it which is beaded. It's not an elbow though, wtf?

That's a 1G N/T TB.

, why the #### did that idiot put a nt throttle body on the car So the 1g NT stock throttle bodies are bigger than the 2g turbo tb's?

Is there any way I can make the elbow fit? Perhaps I could cut off the extention on the tb?

Is there something special about that NT TB that you would want to use it instead of getting a 1G Turbo TB?

I mentioned in one of my earlier posts that this tb was already installed on the car when I bought it.
I don't think there's anything special about it besides the fact that it's more useful than the 2g tb. I just don't want to waste around $50 and get another tb of the same size if this one will do just as well. I just have to figure out a way to slap the elbow on

What's the difference between 1g nonturbo tb's and turbo tb's anyways?

the difference is these 2 pics. the size is the same (60mm) but the turbo model bolts directly to the 2g elbow. you would have to cut off the nt and make sure it is straight so there are no leaks when you put on the gasket. other then that your fine.

I'll probably just end up cutting the 2g tb elbow and weld it onto the tb. I've checked the design of the tb that's on my car and there's no way to make it straight (flat). I mean, it's possible but welding the elbow to it is a lot easier.

I don't understand why would go through all of that hassle . Plenty of people use 1g NT throttle bodies out there, you just have to fab up new piping. Using a 60* or a 45* silicon elbow with a modified UICP shoud yield you little to no problems with fitment. If I were you, I wouldn't even waste time trying to get an elbow welded on. Too much work for something that shouldn't have to be done.

^^^^^^^^^^ I tried that, but like I mentioned before, the rubber keeps blowing off. Welding it toghether is the only way to go.

before you start welding, what about the 4 holes, are they not threaded? if they are, no need to weld. i wouldnt weld it anyways ervin. call up a junk yard and tell them you have a 1g nt tb you want to trade for a 1g t throttle body and see what they say, or post on scr about it.

The problem isn't the holes. It's just that the tb isn't flat like the turboed models which makes things harder to figure out. I dont' know if I should go through the hasle of looking up the local junkyards since my solution seems simpler. If I was to get an 1g turbo tb I'd have to buy a gasket as well. On my current tb I wouldn't need any gasket. I'd just have to weld the 2g elbow onto it.

Why is everybody against the idea of welding the elbow to the tb?
