So Im getting ready to put start the reassembly on my GSX. I bought a Haynes manual hoping that would be all that I need. Its less informative than GQ for someone who makes $20k a year. Is it worth it to fork out the $100 or more on a factory maintenance manual, or can I fine what I need somewhere on the internet. Thanks, Cj.

P.S. I downloaded the torrent for the DSM repair manual, but it seems a little less than complete.

I thought the Haynes manual was pretty helpful. I just finished my stock rebuild and I used it for all the torque specs except for my ARP hardware. What info are you looking for?

I personally use Haynes as well. There are some areas in each brand of manual that are a bit gray still. It helps to have both because some areas that arent covered well in one brand is a lot of times covered better in the other.

I searched the internet and found all the pieces to the repair manual. I have the body, electrical, transmission, troubleshooting manual for auto transmission, TCU info, ECU info, 4g63 rebuild manual, part number manuals, technical spec manual, sales brochures, etc.

It's all out there.

The chassis/body repair manual I have is 2103 pages and 77.6MB in PDF form. I've found that in many places. (It's the one Bud linked)

Sometimes I just print out the pages I'll use. If they get all oily and grimey, oh well. I'll just print out new pages for the next job.

I'm not sure if you have this option in the states, but the 2 manuals that we have in canada are Haynes wish is informative although, our Chiltons guide is most in depthand the differance is 25$ vs 40$

Check out ebay.. Was able to get a complete set of Talon FSM's for less than $20 shipped. Sometimes you'll get luck and come across a deal..

The DL might seems incomplete as there are multiple books to the set... maybe that is why?

I personally prefer the FSM, as I have found that the Chilton's have left out information before. But they are good for your basic information!

I have the 3 service manuals for the 2g dsm's. They are pretty cool going through them. If you need any torque specs just pm me and I will add them to my torque spec/internal clearance tech thread.

Im just trying to go back over all of the suspension and when I get ready to put in the engine and tranny, I want to be sure that I have all the specs so I dont mess anything up, or leave something laying a mile down the road. Thanks for the responses guys (and gals??), Ill check ebay and go back over the Haynes. Cj.

And thanks viperlp01, Ill check out your thread, and PM you if I have any other questions.

I also have a set of FSMs that talongirl is talking about. They are pretty detailed and have a lot of good info in them, but I dont really like the way they are layed out. It can be tricky to find what you are looking for.

Gotcha. If I can get ahold of one for a decent price, you think its a good idea just to have them around? Or put that towards another manual/book?
