2g shift cable differences

Ok guys. I have searched and searched. If I missed this someplace, I am very sorry.

I know that early 2g cars had shorter shift cables than later 2gs. I have a 98 GS-T with shot shifter cables. I have measured my broken cables and they appear to be around 56 inches long. A set that I am looking at is approx 60 inches long. Is it possible that I have the older shift cables on my car? I do have a 6 bolt swap, but its the same trans that came on the car. I dont know if that matters or not. Before I shell out 100 bucks for new cables, I would really like to know they will work.

Does anyone know the length of both versions of the 2g cables? or if the sets are interchangeable?

I also had to figure this out recently, if it is the factory transmission then you should need the late 96-99 cables. As for specific lengths I am not sure, and I really do not believe they are interchangeable. But I know the shorter cables will not allow you to seal at the firewall with the large rubber grommet without cutting it and moving it to the other side of the crimped metal section on one of the cables.

I believe the difference may be with the shifter assembly in the car, but not too sure.

i didnt want to start a new thread... does anyone know the definite answer to this? will 96-99 cables fit any other 96-99 whether its fwd or awd? Never mind they all work 2g fwd or awd..
