2G Rim Recall

I had a friend tell me there was a recall on 2G (97-99)GSX OEM Rims due to the fact that they bend very easily. and that mitsubishi would either give you new rims or re-imburse if you purchased new rims. Is there any truth to this? if so, how do i go about getting my rims replaced? Apparently there was a large lawsuit over this, he got something in the mail telling him about it.

I think that was for the 3g rims, not the 2g.

It is definatly not the 2G. I spanked a curb shortly after I bought my car hard enough to toss it over 2 lanes of traffic and all it did was scuff the hell out of the rim. I swear I thought the rim would be cratered (it did break the back trailing arm tit on the upright), but I ran that rim for another year and a half before I got rid of the OEM set.

OK, I was wrong...in a sence. It is definatly not the 16" 2G rims that I had, only for the 17" rims that came on the GS-X. Sorry.

It says 3 years warranty period? Umm all of the eclipse 97-02 are past the 3-year warranty period. Can I still get reimbursement?

I spoke to someone at the dealership today because I went to check out a 99 gsx they got. They said they give you 125$ credit to work there or if you buy rims from them.

It says on the class action lawsuit website that it's only within the factory 3 year warranty coverage...well that sucks.

1 how can your car possibly be still under warrenty?

2 the replacement rims are a very unatractive one piece design! the originals are much nicer looking!
