I had a bodyshop not saying names do the work on my car and I'm not very impressed. My hood doesn't close right my intercooler doesn't look right notta. My car was in a minor front end collision. I wanted to get a new radiator core support they said that they can fix it for cheaper than a newer one. Well how do I replace the core support, and what else should I look for when replacing it? Can I do it myself or do I have to have some other hack do it?

Don't quote me, but I believe its removing spot welds and some bolts, then reverse the process to install.

actually you can go ahead and quote him,cuz the same thing happened to me.A damm mountain ran in front of me and i damaged the radiator support.Body shop replaced the whole support, removed the spot welds and re welded it like the previous post said.It cost me about a grand with me bringing all the parts except the support.this was after searching thru alot of body shops, everyone else quoted me 1600 and up.good luck with it.

I already have an extra core support layin around so i may try on mine and see if i can do it...well if i ever hit anything...but is the welding part of it the hardest part?

I'm afraid of F'ing up my paint job then I have to paint the core support over as well. Then again I guess I could paint it black. Woo Hoo! and paint the engine bay black as well. Woo Hoo!

Where did you get it from the dealer?

Thats what I wondered cause $450 is steep for that....on ebay new they are like $180. The one i have i got off an eclipse parts car I have.

You can get a core support for a 2g for 200 bucks shipped to your door.

1g's are around 220 from what I've seen... but paying 450... wow...

I'd rather have a factory part then an "aftermarket oem" factory is going to fit much better. If you're going to take on the challange make sure you are a fairly good welder. Get yourself a good spot weld cutting bit. You're also going to want to make sure your front end is and going to stay squared up. I'd say it would take a fair amount of time. Maybe a good idea to look up some better body shops and talk to them. If you hood doesn't close right and ## ic isn't right, check how they mounted it. if your fenders, bumper and hood actually line up, maybe they just didn't adjust the latch right and put ## ic back in wrong. Just a thought.

I think I'll just get one from the bone yard, I have to fix the floating rib brackets, and the motors in my top. I have to do my timing belt and lifters. Want to do my cam swap and port and polish the head. Possibly rebuild it if it doesn't pass a compression test.
