Could I use a 2g intake pipe in my 1g to hook up the 2g maf? I have my side mount intercooler still. Or would I be better to get a hard intake pipe for a 1g and get a coupler? Thanks, also there is a couple small bent up parts on the honey comb, should I just leave or try and make it normal as possible?

1) yeah you can use the stock 2G intake pipe. its not going to matter. or Shouldnt. Ive seen it done.

2) Easiest but cost more money would be to get a hard intake pipe with coupler. As they flow better anyways.

Lastly, i would recommend you leave the honeycombs alone. You may damage it more if you try and fix them.

listen do yourself a favor you will save yourself alot of trouble get yourself a aftermarket 1g pipe to 2g mas i just got done hooking up mine granted i was doing mine around my fmic piping but still I'm telling you the stock 2g pipe is a big hassle when you can just buy one that will bolt right up.... oh yeah and it doesn't leave much room for the filter either..

agreed with killer. your better off buying the 1g pipe with the 2g MAS. in the long run itll benefit you better and like killer said, less hassle.

+1 killer :thumb:

Well im getting a free 2g intake pipe so im going to give it a try. What kind of coupler connects the 2g maf to the 2g pipe? Would the 3" coupler from vfaq work? or does the 2g pipe fit over the maf and just needs to be clamped down?

the 2g pipe just slips over the mas and you clamp it down. but if your able to figure out a way to get it in there your will still have to relocate the air filter down behind the fender because the 2g pipe is to long and doesn't leave enough room for it to fit....

wait scratch that i don't see anyway that it will work.... i forgot you said that you still have the stock sidemount...

this is a pic of the 2g pipe I'm using bolted in my car... i know it is an aftermarket but it is the same as the stock 2g pipe just made of metal instead...

Cool thanks for the help killer_eclipse, im going to try it out, I hope its flexible and gives me some room. I do have the 1g K&N converter to hook up my 1g filter to the 2g maf which puts it really close to the maf. I think it will fit under that black rubber hood stopper if the 2g intake hose will bend and turn a little. But I will let you know here shortly.

Are you using stock injectors?

Do you have any kind of fuel management?

Your car will run lean if you just put the 2gmaf in and don't compensate for the extra air.

shit man +1 on the injectors i didn't even think about that... guess i just assumed that he was ready for the 2g mas..
but yeah yeah you need to at least have 550cc injector just to make the car run ok... and you will need to get an apexi fuel controller or some form of fuel managment....
but just for the recored its not that there is more air its the signal that the mas puts out for how much air it sees changes if i remember correctly the 2g signal is 25% lower then the 1g

Yea the RC 550's are already installed and waiting. Gotta go outta town here soon and pick up the pipe. Is there a DIY intake? I see intake elbows all sorts of degrees 3" at the parts store, could I just put a pipe together? and use the coupler on vfaq?

still a big headake..... you would have to find one with the right angle first off then you would still have to pay somone to tig weld a bov return pipe onto it then two more nipples for your vacume lines blah blah blah man i know what your going through your tring to save money and time by taking short cuts, no offence i think at one point or another everbody does, but its just not worth it buy the time you get it done you would probly come close to the price of a new pipe and it would problably look half as good... like i said i dont mean to put you down or anything its just my opinion because its what went through when i was putting one i one of mine a few years back, i went through three different setups befor finally buyin the 1g to 2g pipe....

Yea for sure I get ya, its just what I got right now. If it gives me much problem that I dont want to deal with then ill stop. But the car is just sittin right now, i am not in a hurry to get it running, well kinda :) but it can wait. I probably will order that other intake pipe, its really short, probably saves alot of room. Saving up for an safc here soon also, I dont plan on driving the car much at all till I do so. Thanks for all the help by the way man.

nottrying to deture you but i would save my pennies and get a gm maf and translator. but that's me, i hate messing with the 2g maf. it doesn't matter if you use the stock 2g rubber intake or an aftermaket one, it is still a PTA to put in. make sure you have an safc or something too or you fuel cut to hell

Well the 2g pipe is just as small as the 1g and it fit perfect. I could see maybe the adapter thats not meant for the 1g filter could make it harder to put in. But it fits very nice, blow off rec. just cut the stock one to make it fit good. Ill take pictures here soon. Just gotta make the wiring now. Thanks for the help.
