2G: Installed Symborski Kit but shifter returns to neutral when in any gear

So I followed the VFAQ instructions when installing the Symborski bushing kit. I put everything back the way it appeared. Although the shifter is in gear, it does not stay in that position whether left, right, forward, or reverse. VFAQ suggested to adjust the shifter cables. I haven't tried this but would this be the fix? Or could something else causing this?
