2g input shaft bearing

I have a 96 RS (obviously not turbo)
Anyway my car makes a screeching sound in neutral and from what people say its the throwout bearing
I just replaced the throwout bearing, clutch, and oil seals all brand new,,
And when alls said and done, the noise is still there! Led me to believe its the input shaft bearing
From what ive been told I need a tapered bearing but online I've only seen just ball bearings
Someone plz tell me that its just a ball bearing!
Doesn't make sense why they wouldn't sell a tapered if necessary

Well a bad input shaft bearing would make noise nearly all the time and in any gear and would have been there before you changed the clutch. It requires opening up the tranny and is not for the faint hearted. It's more likely a poor quality throwout bearing (did you use oem?) or clutch fork is adjusted wrong or something in the clutch install isn't proper. In the 2g turbo trannys, the input shaft bearing is tapered on FWD and non-tapered on AWD. I think in the 2g NT it's non-tapered but I'm not 100% sure. PM Twicks69 (tranny rebuilder) to be sure.
