Hello

Hoping someone can help me diagnose an issue with my highbeams. Car is a 1995 eagle talon, currently when I pull the high beam switch the dash light comes on but the actual highbeams don’t.

I just replaced this switch hoping that was the issue but I still have the same problem. The car has a daytime running light module in the drivers side fender as it’s a Canadian car and they function. The highbeams act as the daytimes when the car is on. I’ve tried unplugging the module and it doesn’t change anything. They did work previously with it in and out but hoping someone may have some insight.

Fuse under the hood is also not blown, I’ve swapped it just incase. Test light on at the headlight isn’t showing change when I turn them on either but not sure if it’s a ground instead of power when you pull them?

Thank you

Just noticed my rear defroster button is also not working. Not sure if they’re connected with the same issue?

Swap these two relays with each other and see if your high beams work. If they do, you need a new relay.

Hello,

Does anyone have a diagram on how to disable the DRL's for Canadian vehicles and not loose their high beams or option 2 a diagram to wire in a new relay to replace the blown factory DRL module. I've searched and anything i've found had diagrams but they're no longer hosted. I have the electrical manuals but I'm having trouble trying to figure out the wiring to do either of these options.

Thanks

Had tried that as well with no luck. Wondering if it’s the drl module. I like to eliminate it completely but can’t find a diagram on it

You can get back non DRL operation by unplugging the DRL-ECU and then connect the two red/wht wires of the hi beam relay together. Then connect that to either of a) the red/wht of either headlights lo beam or b) to the red/wht of the headlight relay. This is actually what the dashed line does which is how the non DRL wiring would be.

So this is the drl ecu wires. Last picture is the plug that feeds into the drivers side headlight

Assuming this is the high beam relays so do I just put a jumper between them where I’ve stripped them back and then connect that jumper to the red white on the headlight?

Yes it is. I tried putting a jumper wire between the red and white and then the jumper wire to the red and white on the headlight but nothing.

Could that relay be dead then or potentially another issue?

If it is potentially that relay does anyone have a model number for it. Hard to read the one I have with all the dirt and years on it

Possible.
Did you jumper both red/wht wires on the hi beam relay together (relay connected) and then jumper those to the red/wht on either headlight? You still have to have the headlight switch on and the hi/lo switch to hi.

If still not working, unplug the hi beam relay and temporarily short the connector pin for the red/wht to the red/blu to see if the hi beams go on (with switches on) which is what the relay does. If they do, the hi beam relay is bad. Replacing the relay with the correct one is best (even a used one) but if you can't get one I can teach you how to hack in any 12v 30 amp automotive relay.

looks like the relay is dead, do you know the part number for it. cant seem to find it and mine has no numbers on it. Looks like the

MB627895 relay but not sure

Don't know since my Eclipse is from USA without DRL. Perhaps you could get a used one from a junk yard and try it (and then at least see the number on it). Whatever relay you use, if you want to use the same connector, it must have its coil on the pin 4 red/wht and on the pin 2 red, and its power input to the pin 3 red/wht, and its normally open power output to the pin 1 red/blu. If you can't use the same connector (because the new relay pinout is different) you'll have to solder wires from the new relay pins to those wires.

Can I just wire in a typical 30a 4 pin relay so if it happens in the future i can easily change it?

Yes. Wire its pin 30 (power input) to the old connector pin 3's red/wht wire; its pin 87 (normally open power output) to the old connector pin 1's red/blu wire; its pin 86 (coil positive) to the old connector pin 4's red/wht wire; and its pin 85 (coil negative) to the old connector pin 2's red wire. Note: The polarity on pins 85 and 86 must be that way in case there's an internal quenching diode inside the relay.
