2G Exhaust Size Question

I am trying to choose a good cat-back system for my '97 GST. I have no other mods done yet, but I am working on those too. My question is will a three inch cat-back system eliminate too much back pressure? I know some about cars, but very little about turbos. A friend said that the turbo works off of the backpressure and that I don't want to eliminate too much. I thought that too much was bad news for the turbo. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on what system I should get let me know.

Without any supporting mods, a 2.5dp attatched to a 3in exhaust would be a perfect match.

"best" exhaust for a turbo is no exhaust.

Just get a 3". A turbo car is really about letting it breath and a 3" will do just that. As for recommendations, get an Apexi N-1.
