Hey all, already searched and still need some info. Im piecing togehter my new motor on the engine stand and getting ready to swap out my tired old 7 bolt with a fresh rebuild. My question is this: can I bolt on everything prior to dropping it in like the turbo, alternator, power steering pump etc or do I have to drop the new block in and then bolt all that stuff on afterwords? Id hate to bolt it all together only to have to take some if it back apart prior to dropping it in. And it would seem much easier if I could get away with putting it all together and dropping it all in at once but I have no idea if I will have the wiggle room to fit it back in that way. Thanks!

it would be easyer to leave every thing off till you get it in the car your goin to need the wiggle room

Thanks for the heads up! Was thinking it would be more of a pain getting everything bolted back on once it was in the engine bay plus dealing with belts etc, but guess Id rather not risk re-doing things and just leave it all off til the motor and tranny are in.

Thanks all! Yea I was planning on taking the radiator out as its being swapped out as well. The prior owner apparently beat the hell out of it when he put the 60 trim and external WG in....... Just cant decide on which radiator/fan setup to go with.....

+1 Drop it all in at once it is so much easier to work on the motor with it outside the car.

One more question,...... What about the oil pan? Do you have to remove it prior to pulling the motor and do you have to bolt it up AFTER dropping the engine/trans in? Or can it all be left in one peice in both cases?

There's no issues with dropping it as a complete unit. Will make it alot easier for you in the long run.
