hey, i have been looking everywhere for evo 8 brembo on a fwd gs-t. but most results i have seen are for gsx which is awd, has anybody done evo 8 brembo on a fwd? I know there are ways to get this setup done but i have to get all knuckles changed. stock rear knuckles to gsx rear knuckles and stock front knuckles to galant knuckles in order to have bolt ons. and the knuckles alone are pricey. so to save money, any other way? :(

I have done it there is no need to change the rear knuckles they bolt on. as for the fronts i used the adaptors sold on here.

perfect. and can you send the link where i can find the adaptors? so there's no grinding or welding? because some people did for gsx. for some reason,

Yes its easy just take your time I did it slow and then painterd them after.

thanks, ill use this link, and i can't find the guy lovinboost, LOL. itll be a lot easier if you have the link of the guy so i can get the adapters

Everything should be the same as doing the swap on a GSX. Rear breaks are the same on all 2gs (except those with drums and early 95s) and fronts mount the same on all 2gs so you could even put the on a GS or RS.

that's good to hear! :applause: :thumb: im glad dude![DOUBLEPOST=1411406172][/DOUBLEPOST]

There was a member on here not to long ago selling the knuckles for I think $350 shipped, not sure what your budget is or if thats pricey. I payed a lot more than that a few years back and it made the install so much easier. I had the brackets to bolt them on to the dsm knuckle but opted out, didn't really like the way they looked with the bracket clocked up or down.

Good luck with your swap. Let us know how it goes and post pictures of finished product.

thanks dude, i bought the car while the engine was blown, so i am stripping everything down, and rebuild everything to where i want it to be. so it will take a while but i will keep in touch and post everything and probably will make a video on youtube for everyone to see! i really appreciate it man.

Just look in the classifieds ;-)

Was there not an update to the brackets where you no longer had to grind anything?

there was one, but you had to change the stock knuckle to galant knuckle if you don't wanna grind anything. but its pricey if you want to change it. its like 200-350 a piece. A PIECE!!!! OMG

I'm not entirely sure it gets any easier than this, for $350 shipped and all you have to do is paypal fees, All of your bracket problems go away. The member selling them even posted in here.

I didn't see anything about what wheels you have, if it's the stock wheels you're going to have a nightmare on your hands quickly.

stock wheels, 16 inch, and yes. i know it won't fit after i put brembo brakes on. so gotta order a new set of 18X10 cv3s with neova tires. LOL.[DOUBLEPOST=1411479271][/DOUBLEPOST]

In this link the only grinding is on the caliper, not the knuckle. Or are the brackets from loovinboost different from the original KMV bracket?

honestly, id rather grind the knuckle and the brackets. i don't really want to grind a 500-600 used brembo LOL. won't feel comfortable :/

The biggest worry on drilling and tapping the caliper is its weakness. Your not reinforcing that drilled and tapped area and it will eventually give up! When!!! I cant say and no one can. The brackets would be better if the reinforced oem mounting locations on the caliper are used thats why they make them thicker and stonger!

There is no drilling or tapping on the caliper just a small bit of grinding to accommodate the hub ear have you fitted a set yet?

The original steel adapter requires no grinding of the caliper. That's what I have right now. You take the knuckles, grind the ears off and take it to a machine shop and have them mill the part of the area where the hub bolts sit, flat. Then bolt the adapter to the back with longer hub bolts. Then with some spacers and hardware, bolt the caliper to it. I don't know if he still has any left because he moved to the next design which does require caliper grinding but PM kmv.

I was always under the impression you mount the bolts through the caliper. This was the reason i never wanted to get the brackets. I got knuckes instead. Just saving for SS pistons and rotors and pads.

Sorry if ive said some mis information. I had it in my head that everyone tapped the caliper and thats why lots didnt want to do that.[DOUBLEPOST=1411485844][/DOUBLEPOST]

No one listen to me LOL

You mean the Brembos being similar to where they slide on guide pins? No, all compression of the pads are done inside the caliper itself. You set the correct spacing to get it as center as possible over the rotor and you're done.
