Just thought I'd share how I repaired my drip moldings since they are no longer available and any used one probably has seen better days. In the past I just did a light sanding and repainted them with plasti dip. Problem with this is you can see the areas where the original rubber has worn away and the plasti dip will begin to fade within a year or so.

So this time I removed the old plasti dip and sanded down as much as I could. I then used sealant to fill in all the worn spots. I used this stuff as its cheap, dries fast, and stays pliable when dry to keep a rubbery feel.

If I were to do it again I might find a better quality sealant as it did want to peel off in spots. The passenger side trim has some edge damage but the sealant wouldn't fill it without falling off. I harder type may fix that issue.

Then I sanded down so that the sealant was flush with the moulding.

A couple coats of plasti dip makes it look almost oem

I had debated to leave it at that but since it faded last time I decided to clear coat them for added protection. I used all purpose uv protectant clear and it dried just fine with 2 light coats. It does remove some of that rubber texture look but it should be more durable. I've never used the plasti dip clear so that may be another option.

I did the driver side 8 months ago and it still looks good. My car is garage kept now so it's not getting a uv beating but it hasn't faded or started peeling at all

Overall I'm happy with the outcome. I just need to do the rest of the trim now :banghead:

For the record, the right had side, part number MB881974 is still available from Mitsubishi at $86.52 each. Shipping would be a bi***, though. And there's still no OEM solution for the left side. Even though I have shipments from Japan every month, I'm still probably going to go the repair route when the time comes.

If only Mitsubishi gave a damn about us and started producing a few parts like Toyota and Nissan are.
