Hello

Was wondering if someone can identify these two connectors in the centre console. Believe the harness I have is from a 97 eagle talon, I can’t seem to find a plug for the g sensor that goes behind the radio though

The first picture is the early 2G model G Sensor. It’s a 4-pin black connector as shown in this diagram from the 1996 manual:

Second one is for the defroster switch, B-92.

Third, the black 3-pin connector is for the G sensor on later model (1997-1999) 2Gs. 1997 diagram:

Also see this for reference: What is the plug behind cd player identical to 97-99 cas

Looking at the diagrams, it appears you should be able to replace the 3-pin connector in favor of the 4-pin style and attach it to the sensor you have there.

Thank you, so either swap the connector or get the other g sensor LOL

I actually have a random box of parts that came with the car. Funny enough is this the sensor I need with my current plug?

Where does the defroster switch plug in. The rear one I have a plug in already but on the back of the hvac controls I only see a few connectors but don’t see where the two wire one would fit in

Yes, that appears to be the 2Gb G sensor. Swap it in and go!

For the defroster switch - alls I can say is that it’s in the center console panel near the HVAC controls. As my familiarity with 2Gs is a bit lower than 1Gs, I can’t quite point you exactly towards where it is. I’ll keep looking to see if I find anything helpful throughout the day, though.

Got the abs sensors in. Still can’t find what that one plug is for

I keep getting confused between the terms defroster and defogger as it seems to me that Mitsubishi also is a little confused with how they are using the terms throughout their documentation. Defrost should be using the heater and defog should be using the A/C. The drawing shows the defroster switch basically bypassing the A/C switch, keying on the A/C compressor.

The defogger switch is the push button beneath the hazards flasher switch, left side of the center blowers.

The defroster switch sounds like it ought to be connected somehow to this position of the flow control knob.

It may be on the back side of this assembly, it may be back at the point where the cable attaches to the HVAC ducts to control flow.

One other piece of information in ASA states:
For the sake of convenience, use your part numbers.

The heater control assembly has been integrated with the A/C control signal switch (defroster coupled switch) to form a single assembly.

Handling:
When the assembly is installed in cars that so far were not provided with an A/C control signal switch (defroster coupled switch), secure the switch harness to the control assembly while making sure that it does not interfere with control lever operation.

I also saw this and just can’t see it well enough to know whether that might be the connection or not.

Suffice it to say, I’m not finding anything that is of any great help. Maybe a 2G guy will float by to nail that one down for you.

thank you. that one in the last photo is the radio harness. I've currently got three plugs in the back of the HVAC controls but dont see a location for another plug. cant seem to find anything on this. Is it an option for something i maybe dont have up by the rear defroster/wiper switches?

Did a little looking while at the junkyard today and came across a 1998 Spyder GS. Note the highlighting tracing the wire from the connector. On the bottom of the white plastic, the wire is zip tied.

I wasn’t being careful or patient so it isn’t in the best of shape. But after that and a few gentle tugs, this came out.

I went ahead and took a picture of the selector knob as well.

I’m pretty sure that’s what ASA was referring to with the “defroster coupled switch”. The switch above is reading off of this knob’s position somehow; note the extra positions on this controller compared to the one posted earlier in the thread. Sorry I didn’t get great pictures of all that.

EDIT: A little more digging and ASA shows the 2.4L Spyder (like that I found in the junkyard) has part number MR315856, a A/C Control Signal Switch which, after a Google search, appears to be the switch we are looking for here.
