I have a nice little hole in my flexpipe that makes my car sound like a diesel truck when I pull out in low gears.

I'm a little confused about which downpipe to replace mine with, searching the threads and the net I've seen different downpipes for the 2G AWD. Mine has an arch right after the flexpipe, but punishments dp is straight.

The first pic is my is my exhaust, I'm not sure if it is stock or not. #2 pic, is a dp I found on CL, he said it's AWD. Will this one fit mine?

You don't know if your exhaust is stock or not?? Does it sound stock? Does it have stock exhaust tips? What size piping is it? But either way, an awd downpipe is an awd downpipe so it should fit. Just make sure its flanged for the correct o2 housing you have. Some are flanged for the evo housing if they are aftrrmarket and would require some modification.

Oh and also be careful to not get a cat Eliminator if you plan on keeping your cat converter (if you have one)

Sorry for being a little vague, I'm still a little new to the DSM scene. What I meant to say was..I'm not sure if the dp is stock. I do know, it has an aftermarket tip and the "cat" is deleted. As to the size of it, I have no idea.

I feel a little stupid for asking but, would measuring the tip tell me what size the rest of the exhaust is?? The dp for sale is 3", if I put that on, everything else would need to be 3" right?

Ughhh sorry for the dumb questions, LOL I'm learning.....slooowly

BTW here is the wording from the ad I'm looking at. It's for the second pic in my first post.

"Used 3" downpipe for any DSM 1990-1999 turbo. Has 2 O2 bungs, all stainless steel."

Measuring the tip wouldnt help, but to make it easy, I would just unbolt the exhaust from the downpipe and measure. If theres no cat, then its almost guaranteed that its aftermarket. Also, you should verify if the flange for the downpipe will bolt up to your o2 housing. Some go from 2.5" and widen to 3", and some are 3" all the way back

If there is no cat, and your talking about measuring the "tip" as in not plural, to me that sounds like you have aftermarket all the way. Stock 2G came with a pretty muffler with duel tips :) If the DP is leaking at the flexpipe then it could be an assortment of brands....and vVvVvery common with ebay downpipes.

Do you have a flexible tape measure? Like a fabric tape measure? If not it can be done with a tape measure. Go under your car (supported with jack stands of course....), and measure the circumference of the downpipe AFTER the flex section.

From there use circumference = pie x diameter, then divide diameter

I will even make this easy for you...

If you wrap your measuring tool around the pipe after the flex section and it is smaller than 8 inches, say 7.85 inches then its a 2.5" downpipe.
If you " " and its over 9" like 9.42" then it is a 3" pipe.

If you want a 2.5" downpipe reducer post a WTB on the classifieds, a lot of us have the reducer that goes from a 3" exhaust to 2.5" exhaust. I use mine for a soldering iron holder. Mine came with my Apexi N1 exhaust on one of my earlier DSM's...
Others need it for the R&D exhaust that is 3" but then reduces to 2.5" where it bolts to the DP.

I just looked at your pic, and Holy Rust Batman! Oh yeah your downpipe, using high forms of Calculas and visual reference to the driveline right next to it, and a quick look at an old pic of my exhaust that I took from a similar angle and I put my vote at 3"

Create a poll thread and ask 3" or 2.5" :)
Just kidding, it would be much easier to do above, you don't even have to remove it.
