I have a rewired 255hp in my 2g awd with the plastic gas tank and its really quiet. I've herd other 255's and they all have a loud wine that you can even hear outside the car mine is super quiet i mean you can barely hear it in the car and its impossible to hear outside the car. I bought the pump new so I'm sure its a 255hp gss342

Congrats? :idontknow:

The whole point of the rewire is to add a better source of voltage to the fuel pump which causes it to be alot more quiet..

But... if you really worried about it, just "Un-rewire" it and it will get louder :thumb:...

That just doesn't make sense if its getting less power and voltage it won't run as loud.

Rewiring it allows it more AMPERAGE.

The current draw from items like the ignition system increases under wot leaving other accessories dry.

also, its not 255hp, its 255lb/hr

Just to clarify, Walbro makes two different 255LPH pumps. The OP has the the high pressure version which is commonly referred to as the 255HP. The flow rate is in liters per hour, not lbs/hr.;)

Same here, I actually have 2 rewired 255's (HP models) both in-tank and together they are a lot less noisy than the one 255 (regular version) that i ran for years. I"M sure if it's because they're new as far as date of purchase, if walbro has made them a little more quiet over the years or if, the fact that neither pump should have to work as hard in a dual setup... I didn't notice a sound difference in rewiring because i already had the large feed ran when i upgraded to the 2 HP pumps...

Got me honestly, but hey, be glad you don't have to hear that constant whining, especially how it pulses with the turn signal on LOL
