So here this goes. I have owned my 95 talon for about 3 years now and I have had a consistent problem that I can't seem to resolve. It's these dang roll stops, they keep tearing.
When I first purchased it they where bad, fine I'll replace them rear then front and the front was hard to tighten. 3 months later they where bad, fine I'll replace them and fill them with poly caulk this time the front was even harder to get in. 5 months later they where bad, screw it I don't care anymore.
Over this past winter I did a shift kit, clutches, and installed a shift box. This caused some really bad clunking because of these bad roll stops. I poked and poked and found that the trans mount (obviously installed by the previous owner) was for a MT so I replaced that with the correct one and the roll stops yet again. A month later and the front is now clearly torn out AGAIN. I haven't even bothered to look at the rear because no already know the prognosis, it's bad...
I'm pulling my hear out because you can't find any upgraded replacements online for an automatic that don't cost 120+ a piece. Seriously who sells roll stops for 120+? Short of chaining the dang motor down or taking an old set, gutting it, and pouring some aluminum into them which I don't want to do due to the added vibration and harshness that would accompany those solutions I'm really at a loss for ideas.
2 years ago I upgraded my turbo and with it welded up a 2.5in downpipe to a ghetto y section one being the factory exhaust the the other being a cutout. Well the flex pipe has broke due to over flexing because of these dang mounts. I seriously don't know what to do at this point and can't proceed with fixing my exhaust until I solve this roll stop issue.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated. I'm desperate as heck here.
Ohh just a bit of extra info I did do a search on the forum but the threads I found where not particularly informative, conclusive, or where old and the info/links provided where no longer working.
A bit more extra info. The front roll stop always tears downward. Not sure why that would be or if it helps but there it is.
