Hey guys, i've got a 96 GST with a 6-bolt swap. Well I haven't been able to get the car started.

After doing a bunch of research I've come to conclude it's the coolant temp sensor. The starter relay isn't working so I'm having to bypass it by jumping the connector. It cranks but just keeps cranking and doesn't start. It seems like it's running too rich and dumping too much fuel. When I looked at the thermostat housing, there is only one plug plugged in and it's the very top one.

I've been searching like crazy but I can't figure out if that plug needs to plug in somewhere else or what. I've read something about changing it. I think it's the 1g CTS. I can snap a pic shortly.

I'm not sure what to do.

Im having trouble getting my car to start. Ive had another thread with other issues. Its a 96 with stock ecu and a 6bolt with blacktop cas. When I looked at the cas the adjusting bolt was completely loose. I tightened it back up and moved it to the middle and it seems like it was closer to starting. Do I need to take the whole cas off and reinstall it? Also im a little confused about inverting the cas and which order my plugs should bein. Ive searched around but am still confused. Im getting spark just not sure if its at the right time or if im getting spark at all 4 cylinders or not. This cars been a nightmare LOL

I've been searching EVERYTHING trying to get this car to run. And in the event that I hadn't searched, it would be the same thing as you posting saying that I haven't searched..

I've STILL been searching around for everything but am still having trouble. I charged up the battery and it sounds like its cranking right now but when it catches, the motor just stops and my lights do dim and stuff. If I hold the key like i'm trying to start it, it will start cranking again for a few seconds then do the same thing. It's the weirdest thing..The motor wants to start so bad. I want it to too.

I'm over here now with the car but i'm the only one over here so it's going to be really hard to use starter fluid to check for spark or to do a compression check. Anything else you guys can think of? The motor is cranking but then it just stops and my lights go dim but then it continues to try to crank.

*EDIT*
I fixed that actually, it's not stopping and the lights dimming anymore. It just keeps cranking and cranking. I know i'm getting some kind of spark though as it kind of tried to catch and start..it just didn't start.

I pulled the CAS and turned it and was getting spark on cylinder 1 and 4 but not 2 and 3. So i'm guessing it's the PTU, ignition coil, or CAS. How can I check these without a multimeter? I'm going to switch the ignition coils and see if the problem is still on 2 and 3 or if it switches and doesn't fire on 1 and 4.

Follow your cts wires back a good couple feet and make sure they are not cut. Who ever did the 6 bolt swap to mine jacked the wiring up and I had bare wires every where. And fyi, if you have the 1g cts you can use it on your 2g. I do at least, never had an issue.
