Hi all,

First I want to say this is my first post on the forums, I've been reading here for quite some time, but I can't find an answer to my question, so I decided to finally register here :D.

I am planning on buying my first 2G Eclipse, but I live in Holland (Europe). All the 2G Eclipses here (except some imports, or the GSX wich is very rare) have a 4G63 motor without turbo. I really want to mod this car, but I can't find any aftermarket parts for this engine.

Does anybody know whether parts made for the 4G63 Turbo engine will fit? Or will I maybe be able to convert the engine to a turbo version, but I believe that is a very hard thing to do. I also heard a 4G63 engine is being used in 1G Eclipses, maybe I can use those parts?

I really hope somebody can help me out here, I really want to own an Eclipse and be able to modify it :p.

If you car has the 4g63 in it than any mods for the GS-T or just the TSI for eagle will fit that car.

Your car, from what you have described, its pretty much a NT 4g63 7 bolt block. That leads me to beleive that the mounts and the way the engine is posistioned is the same as a GS-T. From that I can conclude that parts for a 2g eclipse gs-t should fit onto that block.

My only concern is the pistons used int he NT 4g63. They may not be treated to handle the forced induction.

You can not use 1g parts (for the most part) because the bodies are different. For example, 1g and 2g do not use the same turbo downpipe or exhaust. But you can use the 1g BOV and other parts.

You could find a good 2g eclipse TURBO engine to ecu harness and swap it into your vehicle, this would allow you to run the same setup we run here in america from the factory. You would also need a turbo ECU, Injector resistor pack, Ect, that come with our cars.

If your 1g eclipses came turbo over there you can do the popular "2g 6 bolt swap" and have a really reliable combination.

There's a ton of tech on this swap and more than enough people have done it if you need a point in the right direction.

BTW I need some EDM Mirage parts :).

Thanks for the replies everybody,

I will definitely not swap engines since I think I won't be ready for that (im still a bit of a tuning noob hehe) and don't want to spend that kind of money on a second engine.

So I guess from you guys advice I will be able to use most (not turbo related) parts made for the GST, and maybe later on add a turbo kit + everything related to that which would fit a GST. Can anyone confirm this?

I have the best engine pic I could find attached maybe someone can confirm the engine is indeed positioned the same as a GST.

@ black gst
I found that topic already sorry but it didn't really help..

i can see the picture just fine. it's black, with a 4g63 non-turbo motor in it LOL. appears to be bone stock. still has the air filter box on it. and the exhaust manifold reaches way down.

yup... looks like an eclipse jumble to me!

I see it.

It looks like a cross between the 1g NT and the 2g. Well thats what it is pretty much.

You can only use the 2g turbo parts. The NT 2g for the us has the 420a, the intake pipe is on the other side, the exhaust manifold is flanged different and I think the exhaust routing/position where they bolt together. You will need to look into the 2g GST items. Finding a replacement exhaust manifold might be hard, if you are looking for one, since they never existed here for the 4g63 in the 2g body.

As far as parts you should be looking at, I would stick with non turbo related items for the 2g GST. Aftermarket Radiator will definitely fit. Maybe some 1g components that are for the 1g NT. MAybe even the 1g exhaust manifold/dowpipe 4-2-1 collector. They are pretty cheap online. The hard intake pipes and aftermarket filters seem like they would fit in place of the stock snorkel intake. I think they you should be able to use catback exhaust system from the GST. You might need to make an adapter to enlarge the piping.

Ok thanks everyone, and especially agentorange, I'm gonna buy my first Eclipse and stick to the not turbo related GST parts :D
