Ok so i put together my 2.3 last weekend and everything is going fine then it starts smoking on decel and idle only after decel. I havent noticed any smoke on acceleration except at a stop sign where I stop and immediately start moving again. I pulled the upper intercooler pipe, no oil. I pulled the plugs and they are clean but the pistons are already black on top. Im thinking valve seals maby? I havent gone over 11.5 boost since the car has been put back together. I havent yet been able to determine if it smokes while just idling. Also the smoke only comes on once the engine is good and warm. Not at cooler temps. All the seals look to be seated but Im not 100% sure since I dont know how far down they are supposed sit. What brand of valve seals are bright blue?

i justread this for the first time but i was gonna say turbo my t25 did exactly the same thing when it went. which sucks cause i changed the valve stem seals first thinking that was what it was.

Nope. I had the FP filter installed. I also removed cleaned and reinstalled it every couple of days. I did this because I have read about break in debris killing turbos from contamination or from the filter getting clogged and starving the turbo of oil. My personal opinion which I cannot prove is that when I originally installed the turbo on my old engine I had the w/g boost source on the wrong port. I overboosted one time to 32 or 34 psi. I believe that the boost may have been too much strain for the small shaft they used on the 3575. Considering that immediately after this I felt a bit more shaft play than before. I think that Im on the right track. Also considering that much smarter and experienced guys have said that this is an issue with that specific turbo. I followed the FP install directions to the t. This isnt an installation or oiling problem.

hey no problem. Im working with Fp to try and find a reasonable solution to this. I doubt its rebuildable because of the damage I saw and because they dont carry parts for the turbo any more. But we will see what they say was the cause of failure and how to get my car rolling again.
