I have some nitto 245's on 17X7 ADR gt-sports. They are already on the rim so dont tell me they wont fit. I bought them like that from a friend who used them on a 1g awd. The offset is either 40 or 48. I have to check tonight. What can i do to make these fit on my car...97gsx. I searched on google and on here and it seems i cant use if they are either offset??? some one correct me if i'm wrong. I am willing to run a spacer or grind the tab off my rear fenders.

I run 225 on a 17x7 and have a wee bit of room. I run Azenis Sports, which are close in width to some 245's. There's an "actual tire size" thread if I can find it..

I'll have to double check my offset, (40 from my horrible memory) maybe just test fit for the best answer??

I am running 245/40s right now. Not sure on the rim offset. why dont you just try them? they are already on the rim right?

Most happy 245/40/17s work on +40. Given the squeeze you are putting on yours, it's almost definite that +40 will work.

+48 has no chance.

they are 245/45's and my car is lowered about 1.5 inches in the rear. I dont think the fronts will be a problem. The rims come in 40 and 48mm offsets. Not sure which ones i have as i will check later tonight. From what i can see, they look like 40.

I hope you're going to run those babies at 40 psi...

I have them at 30psi now. why 40? I wont be racing anytime soon

Fits fine except hits the little lip inside the fenderwell in the rear. 1) i'm going to cut that lip off. 2) i'm going to switch to stiffer springs and shocks. A 1.6in drop in the rear and only 180lb springs with tokico blues isnt cutting it.

Cutting, rewelding the lip, and bolting on flares is always in style.

You can't just cut it willy nilly.

Some 245/45/17s work with a +40 offset; others do not (and rub the rear knuckle). Why people put this size tire on 2Gs is beyond me. Drop your tire radius and say hello to 12s. My suggestion would be 245/45/16.

I have 18-7.5 Gram light 57-pros with 235-40 series falkens and its tight. I actually need to get the rear fender lip cut a bit.

If you have a bunch of negative camber im sure its fine, my camber is dead on so its barely hitting.

I'd be able to shed some insight if UPS hadn't messed up my wheel delivery.

I'm waiting on some stock 17x8 (+35) Evo 8 wheels with 245/45/17 Falken Azenis. I really didn't want the 245's cause I really don't want them to rub my fenders, but they came with the wheels shipped for $580. And for that, I can't complain much.

I'd stick around 225-235 width, really don't need much more than that. Especially on a 7" wheel.

The suspension guru's just said not to cut the lip. I'm going to be rolling them this weekend and hopefully installing some agx's with stiffer springs for now. My car is too low for shitty nj roads. If things still rub, look for some fairly new nitto 555r's in the classifieds.

I honestly wouldn't run anything wider than 225 on a 7" wide rim. It may "work" but I don't think it'll help you handling wise. Ideally, 245 is the largest you'd want to go on an 8" rim- Having run 7" and 8" wide wheels, i'd stick with a 225 on the narrow ones, and go 235 or 245 on the 8"ers.

Well i rolled the rear lip(hit it with a rubber mallet) and 98% of the rubbing is gone and this is on the current suspension setup on my car. The only time it does rub is on larger bumps, potholes, etc.....things someone should avoid anyway if you have a lowered car in NJ. Thanks for the help guys!! So for future reference and if anyone is doing a search, 245/45/17 nitto 555R's fit on a 2g with 40mm offset wheels and a little fender rolling.

As well as 245/45/17's on 17x8" wheels with a +35 offset (put the Evo wheels on my car)

And it's lowered about 2.5" on Tein coilovers, clears the upper control arm by MAYBE 1mm. Will be going to 235's for the sheer fact that I don't really see the need to keep the 245's on it.

Just wanted to update my situation as well.

AJ, if you don't want the wider tires I've got some RSL 17x7's with 225/45/17 Yoko ES100's I'll trade you :p

I had a set of 255/45/17 Pilot Sport Cups on my 2g that was lowered about 1.8". They only stuck out about 1/8th of an inch , and that was with factory alignment specs. It looked like it could have come from the factory that way. Can't remember the offset. Ill post it when I get home.

Yes, please let us know the offset. I wouldnt mind running a huge tire for the roadcoarse.
