I've got TONS of gap on my Spyder while running 225\45\17's as my gallery shows. nearly 3-4" of it. My car is UNLOWERED. Will I be able to run 235\50\18's on it without rubbing? With the amount of GAP I've got I think I will, but I'd like to check with everyone just to be sure. I curbed the car (3 rims totalled) and I need new ones. Thanx in advance.

maybe 235/45/18's but i don't think the 235/50/18's would. the back might be fine but you would get some rubbing when trying to turn from the front. i say 45's over 50's and then lower it, if you still feel the gap is too much.

i doubt 50s would fit...if they would that would look stupid. remember a wider tire will also make it a higher tire... the series of the tire is the % of the width...

and yeah id get springs instead of a 80 series offroad tire :)

I was seriously considering the 235\45\18's as being my best bet. But, the 235\45 tire sidewall is 117.5mm think while the 225\45's are 101.25. That's only 16.25mm thicker piece of rubber (or .64 in). Not a whole lot of difference really. With the amount of gap between the tire and the fender, I was willing to bet a 50 series would fill it up better and still not rub. Does anyone out there run on an unlowered ride using 235\50\18's?

I'm really not wanting to lower it, because of the roads and hills around here. It scrapes enough as it is. *sigh* This pic might give you a better idea how much gap is there. But if you're sure a 50 just won't do, then I'll definately go with the 45's. And thanks for the help. You guys are great.

it's not the fender i'm worried about it rubbing. i think it might rub inside of the fender not the actual fender. also to much tire will be bad for performance, you want to keep the circumfrence as close to stock as possible for maximum performance with a good clean look. either way i would still recommend 45's, but thats just me.

Mine is a GSX, don't know about a gst Spyder, but I was told not to run any wider, or it might rub when going around a sharp corner (by a tire shop)!! Plus you may be able to save some money with the more narrow tire.

People, don't post things like "I don't think so" or "I doubt it." Either you know or you don't. I've been judging the fit of tire sizes a long time and I don't even know because he hasn't given a key piece of information: wheel offset.

Personally, I'm 99% certain it wouldn't fit due to knuckle and fender clearance issues, but I wouldn't normally put that out there until I know the offset. Other issues related to the larger circumference would make it a poor choice.

also the bigger the tire your car is gonna be raised up more.. it already looks high enough.

personally i think youd be better off just putting on the stock rims
