what do you guys think ? Rims will be 17 x 7.5 .

and its pretty much stock in regards to height . I just dont want to give up the cuchion on the tires .
Please post advice and take poll thanks guys.

A 235/45-17 would work. Remember, a 50 series sidewall depends on the width. A 235/50 has a taller sidewall than a 215/50 even though they are both 50 series. A 235/45 would be nearly identical to a 215/50. On a 7.5 rim, 215 is very small. If you do get a 235, make sure it isn't a Falken Azenis, as the tread is wider on those tires and will probably be too much for a 7.5 rim.

What 1736 said is correct. The second number is a percentage of the first, so:

A 215/50/17 will have a tire diameter of 25.46 inches (17" + 2(215mm*.50)). "Stock"

A 235/45/17 will have a tire diameter of 25.33 inches (17" + 2(235mm*.45)). "-0.5%"

A 225/50/17 will have a tire diameter of 25.86 inches (17" + 2(225mm*.50)). "+0.7%"

A 235/50/17 will have a tire diameter of 26.25 inches (17" + 2(235mm*.45)). "+3.1%"

I've built a tire calculator and other useful calculators for DSM owners that can be found here. Obviously the tire with the least amount of deviation from the stock tire is the 235/45/17. Running that instead of your 225/50/17 will give you an even wider tire and be closer to stock. I hope my post was helpful in your tire selection. Enjoy your new wheels and tires.

I'm sure they do. But on that listing they were available in silver or white . So They should still have a set in white. They are such a good deal that you can just get em powdercoated any color you want . IMO

Yeah, what I said in my post above:

I was looking for no rubbing or fender rolling or anything like that. Also I wanted to get flush with the fender and bump the wheels out a bit so It looks a little nicer.
I want to keep a nice sidewall for cushion
and also was wanting to add a little more size to the overall diameter of wheels to kinda get some off that overwhelming gap 2g's have filled a little.

None taken. I'm not sure you grasp the aspect ratio of the tire completely. If you have a 225/50 you have a sidewall of 112.5mm sidewall. If you have a 235/45 you have a sidewall of 105.75, a difference of .7 cm (about half a centimeter). This won't really do much to close the wheel gap, so you should really drop that notion as a reason for tire selection. It would be better to run a 235/45, which with the proper offset will not give you any clearance issues.

Does this mean you're going 235/45/17? If you are, then yeah, you should be good with anything <+41mm offset with a 235mm wide tire. Here's what vfaq says:
"Since a 235mm tire is 10mm wider than a 225mm tire, it must have an additional 5mm of clearance on the inside. So you need at most a +41mm offset to fit 235's."

the absolute best combonation is a 245/40/17. and YES it will fit fine. Fyi its the same o.d. as a 225/45.

eeeewwwwww i wouldn't go with 215-50-17 thats what i have on my 17's. the tires are way too thick and it bothers me everytime i look at the car i only got them b\c they were cheap

I've owned two 2GB's, one white (kid rearended me while trying to get his cell phone out of the floorboard) and now one red. My red car is currently completely stock (bendy 17"s and all).

Those pics are nice. But not the perfect pic I was looking for .
I also searched the gallery and came up with pretty much the same thing.

I just dont want the tires to stick out past the fender or have to roll the fenders

He only needed the fenders rolled because the car is so low. A more reasonable ride height wouldn't require rolling fenders for that setup. Also, 245 is too wide for you 7.5 inch wide rim. It can be done but it's not a good idea, the sidewall will bulge.

Isnt the overall goal of selecting a performance tire to have as much rubber contact on the ground with out sacrificing drivibility and comfort(to some point)? Then you cant beat a 245/40/17. thats the widest tire that FITS and has just the right amount of sidewall.
