I am able to get brand new Michelin Pilot Alpin tires for real cheap from a local guy around here. They are 215/45R/17 though and not the 215/50/17 for the GSX. My question is will this tire fit? How will it look? I dont want a gaping hole in the difference of side wall. And how good are the tires? I have searched but couldnt find the right answer. Thanks guys

What wheels are on your car...?

You should get the same size that's currently on the car.

I currently have the stock wheels on my car. I remember when i use to work at a dealership about how you can go up or down one size from factory but wasnt sure which number it was.

You can calculate exactly what the difference is, very easily.

215/45/17 - 215mm wide, 45% of 215 = 96.75mm tall.

215/50/17 - 215mm wide, 50% of 215 = 107.5mm tall.

You can then picture what the wheel would look like, that's a loss of almost an inch diameter.
