whats the major and minor differences please? im looking at some turbos right now i want to run somewhere in the 400-500hp range dependably by the end of this year.

You have a lot of researching to do. I don't think anyone here would want to run a straight T3, is it would be a small turbo, not unlike the T25. Most common thing is to do some form of T3/T4 hybrid, but just saying that is waaaay too broad and could cover anything from a 300hp turbo, all the way up to smoething capable of 650+.

Even the 20G has its hyrbids depending on wether it uses the TD05H or 6H turbne wheel and are generally considered to be 350-400+ hp turbos.

really??! i was told by my mechanic that i could get 340 or so hp out of a b16g for 500$, i told him my goal was 400+ and said "maybe i should go with like a 20g or something, but thats getting a bit expensive" and he said "it wouldn't be as much as you think."

Yes, 340hp is a resonable goal for a B16g, I just don't know about the $500 part.
Most 20G's are considered 400hp+, I just believe that it takes the TD06H housing and race gas to get there easier. A nice 20G setup with an external gate (a must IMO) is going to be well over a grand.

a single grand is do-able, anything over that is unacceptable LOL i have to afford insurance to drive the thing. not to mention i dont have many supporting mods yet either.

so if he says he can get me to 340 dyno awhp on a b16g for 500$ i should do that?

Yeah, why not. I don't see any fuel mods in your profile. You can go through 5 bills on a FP, injectors, AFPR, and S-AFC. Maybe race gas and high boost will do it, but I'm thinking you'd need cams too. I just had 264/272s installed and I hoping for well over 300 fwhp. 340 awhp is even a loftier goal. I'd love to hear how he does it.

check out some of the video's on his website he has done all this kind of stuff before! hes a really awesome local guy.
