I plan on upgrading to a 20G turbo(I know there are better options out there but this upgrade will be almost free), my question is that I am not sure if I'll use the td05h turbine wheel or the td06 turbine wheel. Those of you who have any of these 2 setups, would you please give me your opinion as to which setup will be better for a car that will see almost 90% street use and only a 10% track use.
Thanx.
I'm upgrading from a 17c turbo by the way. :thumbdown

Go with the td06h. It flows much better on the top end. I have a td05 and I wish I had gone with the td06h. Actually I wish I had gone with a 50 trim... no matter what you get you will probably want more.

If your worried about lag, I have 18 psi by 3400 rpms with the td05. Ive heard that the td06 is a few hundred rpms slower but flows more efficiently at higher pressures.

QUE?

You may want to reply in english, if possible.

Can you please translate? I have no idea what you just said.

I have a TD06 and I love it. You don't need a 50 trim. 20Gs have and still go low 11's all day w/out juice. If you feel you need more just turn up the boost and get it tuned well and it will blow you away. My Hahn 20g makes 20psi at 3500 rpm.

Sorry folks.
Darkstartsi is a friend of mine.
We live in Peru, South America and we are DSM club members in our country.
I was trying to tell him TD06 has a larger eficiency island and has much more top end power, and is more convinient to put this turbo (TD06-20G) because his goal is low 11s with 264-272 cam combo plus all suporting mods.
Bye.

After riding in a friend's td06 20, I'd have to say that it's very streetable.

Also, on a further note, I think a tdo620g is enough for most street cars and occasional track cars.
Anyone that says otherwise hasn't ridden in a car equipped with one.

I think the only reason people go with the 50 trim is price.
Freakin Mitsu has overpriced turbos, and although the 20g is the bomb, it's hard to justify nowaday unless you can get a deal.

here is my mod list

td05h 20g
vrs 3" turboback exhaust
cone filter
dejontool race fmic kit
dejontool intake pipe
act2600
ss clutchline
780cc injectors
95 eprom ecu with keydiver chip
aeromotive afpr, earls fuel filter with -6an fuel lines
re-wired 255 hp fuel pump
1g bov with dejon tool seal kit mod
prothane motor mount inserts
6bolt swap, Rebuilt stock internals, Arp fasteners,Balance shaft eliminator kit

my stock cams, intake manifold and head will love my td05h 20g. I am not gonna be big on revving either. I hope to put down 320 on pump with this setup.

Thanx for all your opinions, I've decided to go for the td05-20g setup(it will be almost free) and in the near future I will indeed try out the td06-20G setup( as soon as I can get my hands on a td06 turbine) :thumb:

i have the FP TD06-h and its definatly has considerable lag comparred to stock. But its still fine for the street and you just have to learn to drive it the new power range. That turbo combined with cams makes for some crazy topend. Good luck

If your looking to upgrade a td05 to a td06, its more expensive than it worth. The shaft that accepts the td05 does not accept the td06. So, the shaft needs to be replaced which means that the housing needs to be machined to accept the new shaft. Someone correct my here if Im wrong... this is what SBR told me after I contacted them about upgrading my td05 to a td06.

:thumb:

The exhaust housing has to be ported out and the center section has to be replaced.

Upgrading from a td05h to a td06 turbine is not as difficult as many think. I spoke to a friend of mine who owns a turbo shop and he told me that there are 2 styles of td06 turbine, the older style uses only one "long" bearing(which does not fit the td05h center assembly) and a newer style which uses 2 bearings just like the td05h turbine(which of course would fit perfectly). You can then machine your td05h turbine housing or replace it for a td06 housing, whichever is easier to acomplish. :thumb:
My new 20G compressor arrives next monday, so as soon as I build my new turbo setup I'll let you know my impressions.

I'm running a TD05H-20g from FP, spools fast (almost too fast) and has gone 11.05 & 123.6 mph with 264/272s. The car weighs 2900 w/driver. I've considered going to a TD06H, but for what it'd cost I could just get a bigger turbo so for now the plan is to do the 272 intake cam and a few little tricks and try to get into the 10s with this setup.

Dave! I almost never see you on the internet. You aren't laid up again are you.

It is Erik BTW. :thumb:

Everyone else...this guy proves that a TDO5 20G can make power and be perfectly streetable.

i have a greddy 20g td06 i got it off a mr2 all i did was change the exhaust housing which i got from bulls eye performance i get 18lb of boost just revvin out my engine and i think thatz excellent on my 1st gen considering the compression it has already

Ive got a 20g from hahn racecraft and is very streetable its a little lagy but you can get used to it. Mine will push you into your sit at like 38 or 39 is at full boost and pulls to redline like a mofo no boost creep nice.

Okay guys, I finally put my td05h-20g in my Talon. I was wondering what is the most efficient PSI range for this turbo setup??? With 550cc inyectors and upgraded fuel pump.
Thanx

550ccs? You're crazy! I have a td05h/20g and I'm using 750ccs.. I run 20psi on street 24psi at the track.

Are you using internal wastegates on your tdo6 20gs and if so have you had any issues with them?

Turbo efficiency has nothing to do with your fuel system. You need to look at a compressor map for that.

If you are asking how far you can push it on your fuel setup it will be hard to tell you. Using a datalogger you can safely find out though. :thumb:
