i am wondering my friend is selling me a 20g turbo and he said it fits 4g63 engines but he doesnt know about 420a non turbo. does it fit my 96 420a non turbo engine? what kind of turbo manifold would i need? would i need the turbo 4g63 manifold? please help i only have today to let him know if i want the turbo thanks

it will not work, your motor is totally diffrent than anything mitsubishi.... look at hann racecraft for turbo kits for n/a motors

it will to work .... you just need a diff manifold... and then piping to fit the inlet of the turbo...

Sell your car and get a GST -- the 20g turbo is a bad idea, the star and hahn kits would be your best bet.

I drive an N/T every day, and every day I kick myself for not getting a turbo spyder. Trying to turbo a 4g64 (N/T spyder motor) is doable, however it holds so little boost and I've heard from those who have done a built motor still have problems. Turboing a 420a is also doable, however from what I've seen the motor doesn't respond well to being turboed. Trying to build a motor is expensive and there is quite a bit of downtime involved. For me I believe a JDM 4g63 swap is the best idea, you'll have a motor swap done in a weekend, only cost you a grand for the motor, and can run aprox. 18lbs of boost on stock internals. For me I see it as the best option.

Those However with a 420a cannot easily do a 4g63 swap, so I still do believe their best option, and most afordable is to start over with a 4g63 platform. I have respect for those that are turboing their 420a's, and yes I have seen some pull down some impressive numbers, but to do it they are spending way more than they should have.

Just my $0.02

4g64, yeah might be a little more difficult ... but 420a does EXTREMELY well with a turbo considering it was never setup to be so and needs nothing new internally to still smoke 4g63s. Yeah you can spend a lot of money and get some impressive numbers but you also dont have to ... more of a choice than a need. The car is plenty quick with just the kits. Go ahead and get a 4g63 and overboost that poor turbo to its max to keep up with me OR take the car you have and love and put a kit on it. Ive worked on japan spec engines and Ive worked on my Chrysler and Im proud of what I have. Either way you go you'll have fun its just a personal preference I suppose. Id say go with the 20g and grab some parts from Hahn and slap her together. You can buy everything you need through them and Im sure theyd work with you. Just give them a call.

Peace

am i getting the impression that you think a **420a** is better than a 4g63?? haha that is the funniest crap - 420a motors SUCK, there is a reason they are in the RS models... bottom of the line crap. Either way they are still doable, but yea unless you have the right enviroment, financially - youd be better off buying a gst.. or better yet doing what im doing - got me a 1g eclipse, bought a junked laser FRW turbo for parts and a block - and im building up that motor and using all of the non- crap turbo components.. ill spend less than 5 grand TOTAL (for both cars, labor, and the materials) while everyone spends 4-10 grand on their 2gs stock! BASICALLY - if you want a 20g - use a 4g63t and up grade to a 20g. OR go with a hahn kit and stick with your 420a. Turbo isnt worth doing unless you can go all out... This is all my 2 cents, nothing personal said or implied. Good luck mang

thats because people around here still havnt grown up :dsm:

That seems to be so...

anyways back to your question, the turbo will fit on your car, nothing else will. you will have to get a new manifold, downpipe, ect. i say go for it and have fun, although i dont know how efficiant a 20g will be when only running 7-10 psi which is the max on a stock engine w/ an intercooler. so make sure you get an intercooler too.
