im tyring to run 20 pounds of boost
with my stock 7bolt
big16g on a
evo fuel pump

will that work just for a night??? on race gas...

let me know what you'll think i run

I personally wouldn't feel comfortable running that level of boost on a 16g with no fuel control mods. Do you at least have something to read your AFR's?

The stock 7-bolt block will be just fine dealing with 20lbs for one night...assuming you have something to tune with.

My buddy's running 22psi+ with a Frank 5 20G on his '95 TSi AWD 7-bolt w/ 138k. Of course, he's tuned well with E85 and 1200cc injectors.

Lets put it this way....the engine will take the boost, but it won't like the detonation you'll most likely encounter. I wouldn't go much past the stock boost level unless you have a way to monitor knock, timing, and injector duty.

Like the others have said, an evoIII running 20psi is nothing for a properly maintained 7 bolt, assuming you have fuel control/logging taken care of & have a proper tune. I've only got around 73K on mine but I run 24 psi daily (on a larger turbo) & have run 26 up to 30 at the track. I know others with 100K or so & they run 28-32psi daily, again on much larger turbos. So you shouldn't have anything to worry about, as far as boost is concerned.

i was knocking on stock injectors on stock boost control on my b16g

and stock boost was only getting to 12lbs

so unless you have some larger injectors you will not be able to do that LOL

If that's all the fuel mods you have (the Evo pump) then 20 lbs would put your IDC %'s well over 100%. As ApexVIII above said, I was seeing 124% on stock injectors, rewired 255lph, AFPR, and 12 psi on my small 16g.

I currently run the small 16 at 22-23 psi without any problems. I have a rewired 255lph, 1150cc, and an AFPR, as well as proper tuning devices.

I would not suggest doing that without a logger either. The car/block can handle it without a problem, as long as you have all the supporting mods and a decent tune.

:(

I'll turn my boost down then. I was running 11.5 lbs only on a 190 pump. My timing was great though. :(

what does a cheap tune cost???

and what are u dsmers running in the 1/4 mile on twenty pounds on a sixteeng????

anyone in the 12's???

All depends on what tuning device you have. It could be anywhere from free (either you or a friend tune it yourselves) to $400+. If you go with an S-AFC, it'll be cheaper than DSMlink, which will be cheaper than a full standalone EMS system.

It is possible to break into the 11's with a 16g. No can tell you exactly what you will run with a 16g at 20psi. First of all, because you don't have any mods listed in your profile. Second of all, because the driver is a huge factor in your time. You could give a car to someone and they may run a 14.1 in it and someone else may run a 10.9. This is border line bench racing.

well how can we tune it for free???

i wanna learn :)

and i have 3inch turbo back. intake. cams. performance ignition. and thats it

Please use proper spelling, punctuation, grammar, capitalization, etc.

Since you listed your mods there, please take a minute or two to put them in your profile. My Account > Edit Profile (upper left hand corner of screen)

It all depends on what tuning device you want to go with. Once you know that, then you can do some searching on how to tune it and we can also give you some suggested links to information to read.

well i forsure be on the highhest octane i can get my hands on :)

i wanna hit the twleves saturday

well is there any tuning softwares i can use my self at home???

or do i have to have a tuning device to tune my car...like dsm link.....or a stand alone????

or can i tune the stock ecu???

This will not be possible - guaranteed. There is no way you'll hit the 12's without any fuel upgrades and a good tune. And you can't just throw E85 or race gas in and expect it to be instantly faster with a perfect tune. I wish it worked this way, but it doesn't. You will then have to adjust your tune for the higher octane as it has different properties (especially E85) than regular pump gas. If you try and rush it, you'll more than likely break something.

There is nothing that I know of that's free (maybe for 1g's but not 2g's). You will have to buy something, either a piggyback unit, an integrated unit (some chip - DSMlink or Keydiver), or a full standalone (Motek, AEM EMS, etc.). The stock ECU is not able to be tuned.

Please do some research and stop posting up simple questions. I understand it may be daunting or you may be lazy, but if you keep doing it, this thread will probably be closed down.

me too im at school :(

i got a question if ## bored...

is a gt45r to big to run on a built 2.3 6 bolt???
with a standalone
and everything else u need to support it??

.
This is about as close to free as anything gets:

Get an $85 chip burner, the burn1 from moates.net. Download tunerpro for free.

If you have an eprom ecu, get it socketed and you're good to go; if not, go buy an eprom ecu.

$85 on a burner is far more well spend than a couple hundred on an SAFC (heck, even if they were the same price). You could get the moates ostrich eprom emulator instead for realtime tuning without burning chips for $175 which is what I have, and it's an amazing way to tune.

It's actually easier and quicker to tune in tunerpro than an afc, and you have full control of your ignition timing also, which is going to get you more power easily if you know what you are doing or can learn. Street tuning is not that hard.

rofl....

a GT35? for do you really mean a 45R?

that would be a drag turbo only dont shep and them run like GT42's?

no there is no way to do a tune for "Free" unless you solt someones DSMlink and put it on your car

You were asked once to use proper spelling, grammar and punctuation. (Rule #6) That was obviously too much to ask of you.

BTW, we measure boost in PSI (pounds per square inch), not POUNDS. Yes, there IS a difference.

We've answered pretty much all the questions you have presented. When you've done some research on what it takes to tune and how you want to proceed, you can present us with some more specific questions. Till then.... good luck.
