2 questions about 2g intercooler piping

well... these questions im asking for a friend. hes got a 95 GST w/ a 14b on it (evo3 16g is going on in a couple weeks)

and were trying to figure out what the point is of that huge black plastic box thing on the lower ic piping ??


and also... has anybody ever tried taping the stock upper ic piping to stop the "balooning" of it ? we are going to experiment with it tomorrow to see if itll help the throttle response(turbo lag).

hes getting a greddy 24r kit soon to.. but he wants it better for now since it might not go on right away with the 16g.

You can remove the little black box. it's said to silence the turbo or something useless like that. it just takes away from spool time. I've never really thought about taping up the pipe to stop ballooning, but sounds like it may work. May not make that big of a difference though.

Right between the LICP and the stock intercooler. You probably don't have one. They came on a select few 95-96's.

yeah its a useless black box is what we figured... anyway guess ill see how the taping of the piping goes tomorrow...

could belive how much that thing baloond up though... grew like 2" dang near...
