Okay my 99 GS-T, is pretty much stock just new Plugs & wires, that's about it, but I came arcoss this web page that had a few free mods, that can be done by yourself, the thing is I'm not sure what it does for my car, I was wondering if anyone had any information, or if anyone has done this mods before. The first free mod is, BCS Restrictor Removal, which it says removing it will give a few PSI's, the Second mod is, Cuting the BOV Dump Tube Mod which leads into the stock intake pipe, it says cuting this will let more air flow for more horepower. OKay so if anyone has any infor if this is a good thing to do to my car or a bad thing. Let me know asap. Thankz

the first mod is good...the BCS restricter removal.... :thumb:

the second mod sounds like venting your blow off valve...and you can try it if you want...it makes your car make that loud "psssssshhhhhh" when you let off the throttle....some cars run really crappy with this done...like they stall when you let off the throttle if your really gettin on it...and they have crappy idles....but on the other hand....some cars....like mine didnt get affected by venting....some cars run ok and some cars dont run ok....you just got to try it..

dsm's idle is not affected by the dump tube mod, your thinking of just totally venting the bov into the atmosphere, cutting the dump tube still allows the air to go back into the intake its just got a easier path after the mod
and to answer the questions, yes both mods are decent, the bsc is porbably the better of the two

Yeah, both are good. I did BCS right away when I bought my car, and ran it with everything else stock at the track. 14.5 @ 91. The dumptube's easy - don't bother with the FAQS about it, I just squeezed it with a pair of pliers and it shattered. Done! When you cut the dumptupe out of your intake tube, it seems like there's a little improvement, but the tiny BOV release noise you get with a stock BOV is completely gone. Most of that noise came from the air shooting into that tiny tube, and now that it's just going into the larger intake tube (no dumptube) the whistle is gone. I wasn't worried about that, but if you like your BOV noise it's something to think about.

Are there any other free mods that I can do to my GST, besides the BCS removed, & the cut dump tube, what else can i do to my car?

Hey my bov is like yours just cause i bought it like that and it runs like shit and makes the car turn off after it goes off, if i dont give it gas. So dont do that mod

Take out your MAF and turn it over, you will see a small creator filled with sealant. dig some of the sealant out and you will find that there is a small screw in there. now hold your MAF so you are looking thru it and back the screw out until it is flush with the rest of the MAF.

where is the bcs restricter? I have redone the blow off valve with a turbo RFL and vented it into the atmosphere with special parts, but I have not heard of just cutting it off the stock BOV. My suggestion is before you cut into anything, unplug it and see how it runs. Then you have not killed your car. :thumbdown

follow the hose comming off the nipples of your wastegate actuator and turbo to the BCS and unplug both the top and bottom hose(remember or mark which is the top and which is the bottom one). when you look at the bottom one you will see that it is smaller than the top hole. most people use a sheet rock screw but i used one of my smaller drills to tap in and pull it out. and as always ****BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DOING THIS. THE BCS IS MADE OF THIN PLASTIC AND CAN BREAK IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFULL.****
HAPPY BOOSTING! :D

I did both mod's. the BCS Restrictor Removal, I took that out already, & cuting the BOV Dump Tube which is inside the intake in the way, what else can I do to my GST, Any ideas or more free mods?

i have a 1g awd tsi...is this BCS removal mod just for 2gs? if not, where is it the bcs and how do i remove it, thanks

behind your intercooler, in your fender wall, there are slits where air passes through. cut a hole here so more air can flow out, thus keeping your intercooler colder.

I wanted to see if the BCS restrictor removal mod did anything as I already have a boost gauge. I did it and saw no increase in boost, but there is another mod using the restrictor piece that you removed that not many people know about. Keep the restrictor and do the following.

1. Find your Turbo
2. Find the small tube coming out of the compressor side
3. Pull off the tube
4. Put the restrictor in the metal outlet
5. Put the tube back on.

The results are great. Before I ran the stock 9-10psi and now I run 12-13psi without a boost controller. Keep in mind this was done on a 1G with a 1G BOV. Not sure about the results on a 2G, but trying it out couldn't hurt.

I use one of the interior screws, they are fully threaded and a perfect match.
for anyone else: do not do this on a factory 2g bov. the factory boost is already to the point of leaking past the bov, no need to make it leak worse and abuse the turbo

cut out the back of the wheel well to allwo better flow, or get rid of the lower section completely. If you have the factory bumper the air can not bypass the intercooler because of the scoop. however no speeding around in rocky areas or gravel roads. this is street only.

you can remove the clutch restrictor to geta better feel on the clutch so you can have more control and consistency and engage it better

The thing on the left is your BCS. (Boost Control Solenoid) I removed it completely just to get a better picture. The thing on the right is a screw with the "restrictor" on it. (A little piece of plastic that goes in the BCS.) So then you take off the tube to the outlet pipe from the turbo, place this little piece of plastic in there, and put the tube back on. Don't worry about it falling in the turbo or anything its a really tight fit. Then just put the BCS back where it originally was plugged in. The following pics show the BCS location, the BCS with restrictor, and without restrictor.
