Transfer Case Input Seal MD723202
Transfer Case Output Seal MR983368

The transmission takes typically between 2.4-2.6 quarts depending on how drained it is. Order 3x quarts. The transfer case takes 0.4 quarts and the rear diff takes about 0.7 quarts.

Since you are taking off the transfer case to replace the seals, do it the easy way. Pull the side cover bolts and side cover (remove bolts, hit input sleeve with a plastic dead blow hammer; cover will pop off; it is an o-ring groove seal), then remove the drive gear w/ input sleeve, then remove the input seal. The input seal on some early version transfer cases has a receiver flange so you can only tap it outwards from the housing just so you know. If you are trying to tap it inwards and it isn't going anywhere, you can be hitting against this flange and will damage it. It is easier to drive it outwards and then clean the front housing and inspect the drive gear tapered roller bearings. Now for the tail housing seal, it is easier to remove the dust shield by tapping it gently off using a flat head screwdriver and a hammer then you will get easy access to the tail shaft seal for using a seal puller or other style removal tool. You can always unbolt the 6x 12mm bolts holding on the tail housing and tap it off with a dead blow hammer with a good whack to break the RTV bond. That one will be a simple clean up, and reinstall with Permatex Ultra Grey or Ultra Black RTV on the flanges. Tail housing bolt torque is 18-22 ft/lb, side cover and mid housing bolts are 29 ft/lb.

It's pretty straight forward.

Replace both seals. They're cheap.

I definitely will. They're only $14 for both. Thanks

Thanks Twicks! This will be very useful at time of install. So no special tools besides seal puller? YES!! I do have one with changeable tips.

I have 2qt of MT90 & 1qt of heavy shockproof gear oil that the previous owner gave me. Can I use the Red Line heavy SP gear oil for rear diff also? Then I'll need one more qt of each. Thanks!
