Im almost done with the timing belt and head change out. I was installing all connectors and hoses and found these two connectors that are located behind the intake manifold and do not remember disconnecting these. The car car is a 91 talon turbo. Here are some pics hope you can tell me what they are.

One more thing, the connector that comes between the support for the intake is connected to the correct plug.

The knock sensor is located under the intake correct. I disconnected the plug that was connected to the knock sensor, and now I have 3 connectors between the intake and fire wall. I beleive the connector in the middle with the black and white wires is the knock sensor plug. The connector on the right with the green wires, there is no where to plug it in, there is nothing around that area to plug it in to. The connector on the left must be for the cruise control. Can someone look at there car and tell me what to do. The car is a 91 talon turbo.

The one to the left goes somewhere on the throttle body, most likely to the tps or isc. The one in the middle is probally the knock sensor under the intake manifold. The one to the right might be the fpr emissions right next to the master cylinder or the coil pack not sure on that one. On my 90 the cruise control is by the fuse box on the battery.

Knock sensor uses the black/white wire going to the plug. And the knock sensor's wires will also be black/white going to its socket.

What is actually required with a lot of manufacturers that assemble items with wiring harnesses that no two connections are the same since of the amount of wires going into the connections and to make sure that the connections are assigned to a certain device. As you notice all three have different plugs with unique stop/grooves on them along with a different number of wires assigned to that device. Thus, they are only assigned to it's mating socket attached to that device alone.

Also, look at the color coding on the wire itself, like the cruise plug: Contains four blue color base wire, but it also contain four independent sub colors to match which pin socket that wire is assigned to that also has the base blue wire with the four independent sub coloring - like blue with yellow, red, orange, or black stripe. Then the socket will also have this same wire assignment so when the plug and socket are connected, the color coding will match on both ends.

Thus, this is an easy way to find which plug is assigned to which socket by the color coding by checking the amount of wires are in the plug and along with finding the matching socket with checking to see if the color coding matches both connectors.

To give an example to know your dilemma here on what plug goes where: DSM '91 Base Eclipse with Auto tranny - Had a JDM tranny replaced, yet the tranny shop fubard on the harness connections causing the tranny only operate in 3rd. There are three connectors that are assigned to this tranny and all two of the connectors were the same kind with the same number of wires assigned. How I figured it out was to look at the color coding on the plugs and saw that the shop switched the two connectors around since the color coding of one plug didn't match the socket. I swaped the plugs around and got the tranny to work normally - being that they now matched color coding.

..just some tips in the future
