2 BOV's one turbo???? Anybody Explain this?

THis guy has 2 Greddy type-s Bov's side by side on the same upper intercooler pipe. What is the deal? Check the pic...

Probably just for show off...but sometimes, 1 BOV doesn't have enought flow to discharge the volume of air of the IC pipes...When I first bought my car, it had one of those cheap ass HKS BOV, by the way, the car didn't have intercooler...later, I installed a starion intercooler and I started surging...I installed another cheap asso bov of the same and got rid of the problem...but you can solved this with a good BOV...I solved mine with the OEM one :thumb:
 
There is a point to doing that. On a bigger turbo the amount of air it needs to discharge after shifts is a lot. You can either use a big BOV like the Tial or use two BOVs.
 
I have seen this done on a couple of subarus that have massive turbos on them, so I have to assume it is because of the amount of air that is in the Pipes from such a big turbo.
 
yeah i'd like to know if he was really getting compressor surge on 1

seems like bs to me unless the turbo sizing is crappy and mismatched

A little off-topic, but not really....How did the Starion FMIC make you surge? Is it because you were allowed to move a larger volume of cool(er) air through the pipes? I have a Starion also, and even my 1g has a slight SLIGHT flutter letting off 11psi (ffffFFTTFFFFfff), if that makes any sense. I never had a SMIC on mine, as I started out NON-turbo, just trying to get as much feedback as possible on Starion and surge. But, reguardless of opinions as to why this guy has two BOVs, it only serves to make more noise and discharge a larger volume of air :D
 
If the turbo was big enought to require 2 BOVs then you would be able to see the compressor housing in the picture. I'm sure it's a show thing. And dual BOV's sound pretty wicked. If one is set harder than the other then it goes out of phase and just adds more difference to his blow offness. Waste of cause currently it looks. But maybe the BIG turbo is comeing and he is just getting ready. ::shrugs::
 
Look at the picture a little closer. It is photoshopped. The radiator is "cut out" so the overflow tank can sit right there. Common guys. The 2nd bov looks like it was just thrown in there.

But some guys do run 2 BOV's to get rid of more air, usually with a rediculously large turbo. I have seen this on things like Supras, rx-7's...you know the guys that run the biggins.

I don't see what you mean with radiator. It is perfectly symmetrical from where I'm sitting, but I agree it looks PS'ed on the upper IC tube.
 
Look closer at where the overflow tank is. Look where the tank meets the radiator....see it is kind of cut out digitally? If you have any picture editing software, take that picture and zoom in really close to the 2 bov's. I gurantee it does not match up. I bet it is even different color.

Look again, you're fooling your own eyes. Both ends of the radiator are the same, they just taper down to the mounts. It's not really going "around" the overflow bottle.
I don't think it's a chop, I think someone's really that dumb.
 
Well the light on the bov's reflect differently, so if it is a photoshop they didn't simply cut and paste it. I think it's real.

nah...I think it was just because of more pipes(volume) etc...also the crappy BOV I had when I bought the car...I have tried OEM BOV (the best), and right now I have a tial..love it too :thumb:
 
That is the standard GReddy UICP which only has room for one Type-S. I seriously doubt he has welded in a second mount for another one, it looks way two shiny to be actually "there". The fuse box looks a little shiny and tampered with to me too. And luckily they are both VTA. ROFL
