I recently put the 4g63 into my N/T spyder. Everything worked perfectly, except when i went to start it, the starter was jammed. I then tried manually turning the crank pulley, and it turned smooth, then got jammed. I hear the flywheel hitting something inside the spyder trans. Could the 4g63 flywheel be hitting the bell housing, or is it something else?

Im gonna pull the transmission, but if theres something you know that i dont, please let me know. Thanks.

I might possibly need the 2g GST Transmission??

if the engine came out of a AWD car then yes the flywheel is different, you want to make sure its a FWD flywheel.

I got the flywheel from Autozone, and it was for a turbo eclipse up to 92.5(6-bolt) and FWD. I just dont understand what the flywheel could be hitting, since the bellhousing bolted up to the block just fine...

Alrite, well this is for eveyone that runs into this problem, searches, and finds this. Inside the 4g64 (2.4L) transmission, there is a "bump" that the pressure plate was hitting. The "bump" is part of the hole for a transmission bolt on the outside. I put the pressure plate over the spline and spun it to see where it hit, then I just shaved it down with a grinder, and now the clutch assembly rotates freely.

Hmm I never had any problem like that with my 2.4L Galant trans + 6bolt FWD flywheel. I did go from Auto -> Manual and had to use a manual starter, but that was about it.

I wonder how different the 94-98 Galant trans is from te 95-99 2.4L Spyder trans. They might be the same. I think my code if FM33, but I am probably wrong.
